The first time I purchased a computer from this store it had a mobile device management profile on it. I was unable to set up the computer or even update the computer.
A few months later I tried purchasing another one after researching how to check for mobile device management software among any other software that may lock me out of using the computer.
Whoever the lady is that sold me the computer was nice and told me I had 30 days to return the computer for a refund or exchange especially since I had an issue with a previous computer purchase. That’s great!
After getting the computer home it had started to intermittently reboot. I updated the software and the issue still occurred. I reinstalled a fresh copy of the OS after wiping the computer and the issue still occurred. Later on in the day I attempted to install windows through bootcamp and had multiple issues with two different installs of windows.
I brought the computer back to the shop and told the lady who sold it to me the issues I was having and she said I could exchange it or get a refund. I didn’t see any other computer so I asked for a refund. She tells me there’s a 15% restock fee. I told her she didn’t say anything about that since I had the issues with the previous computer she made it sound like I could try it without any worries. She tells me to contact the owner of the store to discuss getting a refund.
I called the owner. No answer. That’s fine he may be busy. I text him what’s going on with the computer. He doesn’t reply to me the whole day. I text him “Hello?” the next day and he finally reply’s back that he’s driving. So I waited.. two days pass and I text him another long text about the computer and the issues I’m having AGAIN. He finally reply’s back and all he talks about it the restock fee and how it’s 20% when the lady in the store told me it was 15%. I told him how I’ve purchased another computer from him and had issues. The owner tells me his margins and how he can only go down to 6% because of credit card fees. I just gave up and accepted the return with a 6% restock fee. He tells me he will have someone contact me THE NEXT DAY... two days pass AGAIN and I’m having to contact the owner, via text.. AGAIN. I finally get a random phone call three hours after I sent a text to the owner saying “Hello, I've never received a call in the last few days as we discussed.” and “This has been a hassle”.
It’s been almost two weeks now and I finally got my refund after having to contact the owner multiple times, got hit with a 6% restock and had to deal with horrible...
Read moreHad an extra laptop that I wanted to sell a month back so figured I called a couple local places since I was too lazy to do the whole online marketplace and the owner here was quick to make an offer that matches the best price I’d get if I were to go the other route. Though he was out for a service call when I came by, it was apparent he had related clear instructions to his staffs regarding my visit so everything was taken care of in a timely manner. I took a quick tour around the store and can tell that their profit margins were truly unremarkable, especially during this time of inflation so please, support such local...
Read moreAs a previous purchaser of a computer from Reel Time I suggested we check with them for a discount for the Piedmont Scouts 374 laptop needed for their pine wood derby. A solid NO is what I received, not from the owner from some unkindly person working, actually two. Lucas asked me to call him back because he couldn’t remember to contact me after discussing with the owner, the other stated no name “ I work for reel time” we give no discounts. Crazy that we tried to keep our business local and thought that we would have support for our own. Why do we have this type of business...
