For service dog handlers who have to deal with this store allowing pets in that try to attack your service animal...Security watched a customers pet become vicious and lunged at my girlfriend's service animal and didn't do anything or say a word.
I asked ChatGPT to go thru a thought experiment where service animals are harmed due to Walmart allowing pets in stores.
Ohio State Laws:
Under Ohio State laws, any person who possesses or harbors a dog is liable for any injury or damage caused by the dog, whether the injury or damage is caused to a person, property, or another animal (Ohio Rev. Code Ann. § 955.28). This means that the owner of the pet dog in this scenario would be held liable for any injuries caused to the service animal.
Federal ADA Laws:
Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), service animals are defined as dogs that are trained to perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. These animals are allowed to accompany their handlers in places of public accommodation, including stores like Walmart. However, pets are not considered service animals under the ADA, and businesses are not required to allow them on their premises.
Walmart's Policy:
Walmart has a policy that allows service animals to accompany their handlers in their stores. However, they do not allow pets to be brought in, except for in certain circumstances, such as for grooming services. If a pet is brought into the store, Walmart may ask the owner to remove it.
Liability of Walmart:
In this scenario, Walmart may be held liable for any injuries caused to the service animal if they did not take action to remove the pet dog from the store or have it removed after it posed a threat to the service animal and its handler. Walmart has a duty to ensure the safety of all customers, including those with service animals. If they failed to take action to prevent the attack, they could be held responsible for any resulting injuries.
Outcomes of a Lawsuit:
If the disabled individual in this scenario were to file a lawsuit against Walmart, they may be awarded compensation for any injuries or damages caused to the service animal. This could include veterinary bills, lost wages, and emotional distress. The amount of compensation awarded would depend on the severity of the injuries and the impact they had on the disabled individual's life. Additionally, Walmart could face fines or penalties for violating the ADA if they failed to take appropriate action to prevent the attack
Walmart needs to quit letting pets...
Read moreIt is a smaller store but okay I suppose. Unfortunately, this is the third of four stores (the others being: Greenville, Seneca and Titusville) that had barely any cat supplies in stock. Mainly the litter and i have 4 cats, three of which are strictly indoors. The shelves where the cat litter would normally be were so empty they may as well have not even existed. I have found this to be prevalent in Walmart stores in my surrounding area. The canine supplies however, were very well stocked in all the above mentioned stores. Why is this?!?!?!? Also, what was left on the shelves was all the clumping type of litter. There was not a single brand of the non-clumping and I refuse to buy the clumping. I actually have found that the mini crystals last about three times longer than the clay litter. The brand Vibrant Life is less expensive, by nearly half the price, than Fresh Step and a bit more than the clay but worth the extra $. I am very disappointed and highly aggravated over this. This has been an ongoing problem for several months! One store even told me they were getting some in on the next truck I said oh that's great the stock person said yes we're getting four bags in. What the Sam Hell does that do I buy four at a time. Rant over thank you...
Read moreEdit : this Walmart had barely all sizes in stock , horrible maternity clothings , no produce or so . Also the walk ways are so small anymore can’t fit 2 carts . They also added a photo center in that they don’t use being that they don’t do photos (can’t do photos here so don’t try) so busy all the time for the walk ways to be arranged this way. More aisles were not necessary because there is no room . Everything is tightly crammed and horrible . 🙄 Just saying this place is suppose to be AFFORDABLE!!!!! THIS PLACE IS EXPENSIVE !!!! My husband can’t even buy his size of jeans here because they were “discontinued “ at Walmart …. LET ALONE all the clothes are really really expensive like 30 dollars for jeans ? And a bathing suit 20 dollars for just the top and 20 dollars on the bottom ? That’s ridiculous. I realize I may sound like a Karen but also they don’t carry my size of stuff because they’re always “sold out “ . And some of the employees are rude and give side eye all the time . I just don’t...
