I would give it a minus 5 if I could.. We booked this cabin for 3 days, May 27th-29th. The cabin was advertised as secluded with an outside deck and hot tub. When we arrived it was a cabin with no access to the back of the cabin, or property that would have overlooked the mountain view. Instead, it had a bathtub in the living room and a mirrored wall. The only view was of 2 other cabins and a black top driveway in the front. The other two cabins were so close that it was difficult to park three vehicles in front of all three. After proceeding to look over the cabin the immediate appearance of old, dirty, greasy and overall run-down, everything from the carpet, furniture, kitchen appliances, and flooring was visibly apparent. We climbed the stairs to the overhead loft where the bedroom was located and found the same circumstances. We then pulled the bedding back and found what appeared to be bed bugs and stains that looked like dried blood on the mattress and box springs. We then went to look at the bathroom which was just as bad and had something black running down the wall from the mirror, bugs in the tub and rust around the fixtures. The front of the cabin was green with mold or algae growing on the porch banisters. We left the cabin immediately and returned to the office a couple of miles away, and asked for a refund of our money. We were immediately told “absolutely not”, by Brent Huskey, who had checked us in and took our remaining fee for the stay. He claimed that when we signed in, it constituted that we had taken “occupancy” and therefore no refund would be given. Even though we had not seen the cabin prior to signing in, he would not even offer a partial refund and demanded that we leave his property or he would call the police. ( we both called to police) We showed him and the police the pictuers we had taken. He said there was nothing wrong with the cabin and ignored the pictures. He did not attempt to satisfy us, offer to clean the room, offer up a better cabin, instead he began insulting my wife and I. We drove 6 hours only to be told we had to find another place to stay. Memorial Day weekend, and we had to find another place to stay, how unethical is that? This seems to be ongoing fraud and misrepresentation with Alans Mountain rentals. The web site is misleading; he falsely advertises properties that have not been well maintained or updated as secluded luxury cabins. With the shape the cabin is in, he knowingly took our money with no intention of refunding any or all of the cost of the cabin. He has done this to many others and will continue to do so. He was worried that we would still be there when his next customer was to arrive. These cabins are filthy and should be inspected by the health department as soon as possible. This very unethical practice will hurt the tourist industry. After looking into it more, I saw that he does this as a regular thing. I filed a report with Knoxville BBB, but that was worthless.. I also sent a copy of pictures and complaints to Gatlinburg welcome center and city manager, again useless.. Update: 08/11/2016, I am not sure what cabins Larry Duncan was looking at or booked. I have pictures of blood stains on the mattress, the front porch was covered in green mold, the inside was filthy. this was Cabin #2.. it was bad enough that our credit card company refunded the money we were swindled out of. I am not sure if they got it back from Brent Huskey or not. I would highly recommend going someplace else. I can provide a few pictures to facilitate my review. if your stay was pleasant, good for you. I could not stay in such a...

My mother rented a cabin for a surprise for my birthday weekend since we had not done so in a while. We both love the mountains of Tennessee. She was so excited for us to arrive! We arrived on Friday November 18 at about 9:45 pm , because I had to work in Knoxville. As soon as we walked in seemed cute.. All but the filthy hot tub in the living room area! Then look down at the carpet.. Disgusting! Only shoes could and should be worn on it! The grunge in the jets of the hot tub, dirty places/scum and fingerprints, smears that could visibly be seen in and on the rest of the hot tub along with dead bugs in it and around on the floor! The bathroom wasn't fit to bathe in with water stains on the wall, black mold (I'm guessing) around the bathtub and sink. At this time of night after working all day, we stayed. Started to fix the coffee pot and when pouring water in there was white ...something.. Floating around in it! Furniture was VERY old, except maybe the couch, with chunks missing in places as if it was taken from some roadside trash pile! Barely any water pressure, fridge not cold at all!! We slept in our clothes and shoes! Neither of us slept much. As the heat went out in the middle of the night and the emergency heat barely blew warm. We got up gathered our things and called Brent. Well he was just about as friendly as a rattlesnake! When my mother told him of the issues... There wasnt an apology, how can we make this right... NOTHING! The disappointment on her face made me angry, not to mention the lack of regard for what he had just been told. " I've got good cleaners" and I walked thru it earlier". Well Brent must be half blind! We watched his "cleaner" spend about 20 to max 25 min in the cabin next to us. They charge a cleaning fee, (even though the website says they dont) but leave a "to do" list of cleaning before you check out!! Really?? Wash, dry and put dishes away, strip the beds, etc. Never experienced THAT before?!!! She has tried to even get a partial refund.. No response. We have pictures of all this mess. We've stayed many many place in the area ... The giveaway should have been the "office" where we picked up the keys, because after daylight.. It looks worse than a flea market sales office! Basically, don't waste your time, effort or money! My mother is almost 70 on a fixed income and would give the shirt off her back and probably even offer to (correctly) clean these places, just because. And you absolutely, without question, took advantage of her and many others and falsely advertise these places!! This was supposedly the "honeymoon" cabin #4.. I pity the fool that takes his new bride there! Can you say annulment? At least attempt to make it right. And another thing.. In my opinion you should Stop paying people or trading services or using friends for falsley written reviews! Look atvthe reviews.. HOW DID LARRY DUNCAN (WHO POSTED 4 MONTHS AGO) SEE MR. ASHBAUGHS POST A MONTH BEFORE HE POSTED IT??? WOW!! Riddle me that??? Geez! She tried to get this resolved with no luck.. Here's your review!...

I've been fortunate to have stayed in my favorite chalet Amanda's Hidaway twice. Initially, my wife and I spend the first week of our honeymoon there in 2003, then went back for our 1 year anniversary in 2004. The entire property is breathtakingly gorgeous, not just Amanda's Hideaway. I'm planning another trip for the beginning of 2017 with my wife of 13 years and our 2 sons. I can't express just how excited I am to visit Alan's again. I hope Amanda's Hideaway is available. I am surprising my family with this trip for Christmas. I appreciate the management and the entire staff for such remarkable customer service and for such beautiful memories that will last a lifetime....
