My grandmother been ordering from them for years, especially since there the closet deli to her home, they deliver in which they empolyees are really kind enough to help bring in her items, sometimes they'll miss one or two items but not everyone is perfect. My problem are with the reviews this place is expensive compared to the gianteagle that's also in this neighborhood. I'm the type of person who compare prices before shopping and this deli was always the most expensive. There milk for a gallon of 2% is $4.39 and Rite Aid up the street a gallon of 2% milk is $3.28. This deli is expensive if you don't know your locate stores and know how to compare prices. I honestly don't agree how they handle there meat, when I walked pass one day they delivery truck was parked in front of the store they had a whole big Rib, is what it looked like, it was just on the truck floor bare, it wasn't wrapped up in some type of plastic or nothing. I don't know how a Deli is suppose to transport there meat products but if I know it was like that I would have been stopped eating any type of there meat cause you don't know what there doing to the rest. I regret on not taking a picture, but next time I see something like that I surely will. Other then that this store employees are very kind, just...
Read moreI would give zero stars if possible. I recently moved back home to the south hills. This butcher shop is on the north side of Pittsburgh 22 miles from where I live. Needed some special pork products. This was my first experience ever with Tom Fridays. Called them on last Friday ordered kidneys and livers was told I could pick up at 10:30 Thursday. I came In the following Thursday was told by the manager sorry we never ordered it and apologized to me. I feel that mistakes will happen but recovery is very important. I said the steaks look good let me go ahead and get two of them. So he packages them up knowing how much they messed up my order and it being my first time ever shopping there doesn’t even offer any discount. Not to mention when I went to pay at the counter the lady was on the phone and the guy stocking the shelves looked at me for a couple minutes before coming to check me out. Just to compare this same day we went to dinner at Atrias in Peters township and due to social distancing upon arrival for my 5pm reservation we asked if we could sit out side(I didn’t ask when making reservation so kinda my fault) she said sorry we can’t, but offered a free appetizer before we were even sat. This is how you win a...
Read moreDespite some neighbors complaining about the new ownership, tom Fridays has been and still remains super great. The staff has a lot of carryover, if that's important to you, but the new people are great too.
I don't know how many places in Pittsburgh you can order whatever cut of meat you want and get it that day. For my dad's birthday, they cut up 6 filet mignons to the thickness I wanted right in front of me. They've done special orders for me: they got me a whole pork belly for barbecue, and they ordered me a rib roast for Christmas dinner. They have great specials on wings and freezer meats all the time. Plus, they have an amazing ground beef blend, I don't make burgers with anything else. I once drove 6 hours with 10 pounds of their burger blend for an out of town cookout because I knew they wouldn't have as good as beef as Tom Fridays.
Have the new owners added slot machines? Yes. Have they changed the layout? Yes. Are they still as involved, engaged, and friendly as Tom was? YES.
This place is the best butcher shop in Pittsburgh, and there's no...
