Serious Detecting — Local services in Pittsfield Charter Township

I ordered a Garrett Ace 250 on a Saturday and the unit arrived on Wednesday, just 3 biz days. I didn't see the shipping info at USPS and was initially upset with the seller but it was NOT their fault but rather, for some reason, USPS didn't update the shipping info. The seller was kind and patient even after I was upset, wrongly, with them. I ordered the Ace 250 for a gift and checked it out before presenting it to the lucky recipient. I know this is a review of the seller but I wanted to leave an observation regarding the item purchased and my reason for my plans to purchase an Garrett AT Max from this seller, SERIOUS DETECTING on EBay, very soon.

I tested it against my 1980's White's 6000 Di Pro Plus. The 6000 is a great unit and is very sensitive and it was very expensive for it's time. The Ace 250 weighs about 1/2 of what the 6000 weighs and not having to fiddle with ground balance was nice. Which as a little finicky, at times, on my 6000. I liked the tone differentiation between metal types very much on the Ace 250. Testing on a 2005 US Quarter, the 6000 would easily detect the target at 9.5 inches. The 250 was more like 6.5 inches. So, the depth edge goes to the 6000. However, the ease with which the Ace 250 operated and the much easier to hold/swing for long periods of time has helped me decide on a new unit for myself. After lots of youtube videos, online reviews and overall pleasure it has been to use the 250, albeit, for less than 30 minutes, I have decided my next purchase will be the Garrett AT Max and the place I plan to purchase this unit from is SERIOUS DETECTING. They are a first class group and have won my respect, repeat business and my future recommendations of their service. I got into Metal Detecting late in 2018 with some inexpensive but nice gear but after getting hooked I did a ton of research on the best equipment I could afford for 99% beach metal detecting and the Minelab Equinox 800 with the Pro Finder 35 came up as the leaders. I then researched as many companies selling Minelab equipment with the best package deals available. Serious Detecting came up as the one stop shop for everything I needed and a little extra.

Also grabbed a better sand scoop, the Quest Scoopal sand scoop with travel rod which was a great value and great scoop. Also if you are older like me and have muscle or joint issues the Minelab Pro-Swing 45 isn't perfect but it allows me to swing the Minelab for 2 to 3 times longer.

After saving up some money over the past 3+ months I was in a rush before going on a beach getaway vacation. I emailed them and Vicki assisted me on verifying everything I wanted was in stock, assisted with my two card purchase, and made no promises but was able to ship everything out same day. Vicki was awesome and informative plus the bonus gear I got such as the shovel and digger were top notch and top of the line quality compared to the ones I bought elsewhere the year before. Plus the nice hat, belt bag, and detector bag were all top quality too.

Everything arrived timely and...

Bought an open box Nokta Legend metal detector and an open box Nokta pinpointer and I received a used metal detector that arrived with missing parts and the used pinpointer arrived in a plastic bag without a box. Lesson learned, don’t buy open box from these people or anybody else, open box is not a new item that was taken out of the box and put it back. Now days open box items are junk that other customer bought and returned, then the seller wants to resale that used junk. I rather buy new and unopened. Then Serious Metal Detector did not want to pay the shipping cost to return the whole order. Thank God for PayPal, I was able to talk with them so PayPal will refund the return shipping cost of $30.45 for shipping and insurance. But for the headache and frustration I received with that order, I don’t get a dime. So don’t make the mistake of buying their open box/used items, buy the equipment you need new and compare prices and return policies with other sellers. I personally will look somewhere else rather to come back to this company that was Not honest and sent me used items with missing parts. Better buy new and unopened than receiving something used/junk just for trying to save few dollars. Mental peace...
