Hannigan's Island Market — Local services in Portland

Came here with my wife and our trained service dog. There were no signs on the store showing that dogs weren't welcome and none of the employees said anything while we were in the store. Since we came from out of state, we didn't know laws around service animals being around places that prepared food (still don't). As we were checking out, the owner gave us a very nasty attitude around the situation and asked my wife to leave with the dog. She expressed that having the dog in the store was illegal in a very rude way. We both left soon after that. Had they asked us nicely and expressed their concerns around our dog, we would have understood. Had they put up clear signs about their rules on dogs, I would have just had my wife wait for me outside. So, it's obvious that owner failed to do their part and blamed customers for it. Additionally, the employees were poorly trained. One of them even asked to pet our dog. However, the owner went about it the worst way possible to interact with customers with terrible manners

While the store itself is a bit limited, I was surprised at some of the variety in selection. The deli provides sandwiches that are soooo delicious. I got the veggie and wasn’t expecting much since most veggie sandwiches aren’t much, but the flavor was fantastic and really hit the spot for a day on the island. Lifesaver for tourists visiting the island, especially during winter. Has everything and of great quality. Staff is very nice. But the highlight is the oven section where you can get pizza and sandwiches. I had a pizza and it was excellent. Must visit and highly recommended to order a pizza. You...
