I came here on 9-22-23 with my husband and 6 year old son. It was neat to see the different animals and owls up close that you do not get to see on a regular basis, I do love the fact that these are rescue animals. The play area was ok and restrooms were clean. They have a small souvenir shop. I Did not use the picnic area and I did not have a dog.

But it is not very handicapped accessible. It is not a paved walkway. It is dirt and wood chips. When walking down around like by the wolf, coyote, and the wild turkeys it stunk like poo and the place was mosquito infested I was miserable walking it. I mean I know its outdoors and in the woods but come on they have stuff to keep the mosquitos away. It was boring cause normally my son would like things like this but even he was bored. We only got to see approx 6-7 animals out of about 25 animals. The reason for 3 stars is the smell, mosquitos and not being handicapped accessible. To me it is not worth the $7 per adults and $5 for children that...

This place is very cool!

While their "backyard" is on the smaller side, as far as attractions go, the animals recuperating there are enclosed in large spaces and are well cared for. Many of their animals are rescues, and they have a lot of luxuries that they wouldn't have had in the wild. That being said, they are kept in as close to their natural habitat as possible in captivity.

The staff gave us lots of information about a multitude of native animals, and they also do little programs about certain ones each day. While we were there, we got to feed the deer carrots and apples. They wouldn't come to the fence, but they knew we had food lol We learned tons of stuff about the area and had a very enjoyable experience. I highly recommend if you're interested in animals, nature, or just plain knowledge. I'm super happy with the time I spent there, and I'm sure I will go...

Combine the opportunity to see these amazing animals up close with caring staff that is eager to share their knowledge of the critters and you begin to understand why this was easily my favorite stop as I explored the LBL.

Just a heads-up for others who (like me) use a manual wheelchair… this facility is situated on a slight slope and their pathway is mulch covered. With that in mind, as enjoyable as I found my visit, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who doesn’t have either: someone to help them maneuver their chair or enough leg strength to push themselves up a slight but mulch covered incline. Also, if you have an “Access Pass” from the ‘America the Beautiful’ program, don’t forget to ask if it qualifies you for any discounts at...
