Originally I had a higher review on here, but after everything was said and done I thought I should update it.
I was told the vehicle I bought had an inspection done to it, so I didn't think I would have an immediate issues with the car. The second I brought it into the shop I worked at, we realized that was not the case. It was a 1996 Mazda Miata. It was leaking oil from the valve cover gasket, the camshaft angle sensor o-ring, and the speedometer drive gear o-ring. I don't remember the exact date now, but the tires on the vehicle when it was sold to me were at least 18 years old. I ended up having to replace the brake pads and rotors because they were rusted and would not stop squeaking. The soft top is also leaking a small amount in really inconvenient places. Lucky I work in a shop so it didn't cost me and arm and a leg to fix everything, but it was still not cheap at all. The trunk also has some water intrusion that I was not informed of. On top of everything else, I had to replace the control arms, ball joints, and tie rod ends because they were blown. I'm going to have to replace the shocks and struts when I can afford it because they're shot. The speakers are also on their way out so I have to replace them as well. I'm going to replace all of the rubber coolant hoses as well to be safe because I'm positive those have never been changed in the lifetime of the car. On top of literally everything else, none of the fluids were flushed at all. I had to flush the brake fluid and found there was a blockage in the passenger front line. There was no coolant to be seen at all in the reservoir or the radiator, so lord only knows what damage was done because of that. Hey, but at least Gene Gorman did an oil change before they sold it (they did not replace the sicker in the vehicle even after I specifically requested it).
They said when I was looking into the car that they were going to repaint it since the clear coat was peeling. They only repainted the tops of the headlights, the hood, and the top of the trunk. This left various spots on the vehicle where the paint was messed up, and the paint they did redo was not done very well. I ended up paying to have the front of the trunk wrapped because I couldn't stand looking at the peeling paint on my new car anymore.
We ended up refinancing the vehicle through Suncoast because we could not take dealing with that dealer any longer than we had to. The whole process of getting payments switched to Suncoast was a huge pain and Gene Gorman's was not help either.
At this point, I have paid more to fix the car than payments I've made on it so far. Let this be a warning to anyone else looking to buy from them. It is partially my fault for not noticing all the issues with the car before i bought it, but I didn't think I'd have to do my own deep inspection of the vehicle after I was told multiple times they had already done so. I will never be going back, not even for the free oil changes they gave me when I purchased the car. I'm a little upset I didn't take more photos of the...
Read moreOverall, we are very disappointed with our purchase from Gene Gorman's Auto Sales. Our salesman, Chris, was kind and friendly, but dishonest. He was willing to sell out his personal integrity for our benefit, which makes us wonder what he is willing to do for his benefit. There have been many "small" issues that have surfaced in less than a week in owning the car. Examples: * Our remote keyless entry fob doesn't work. We thought it was out of battery, replaced after purchase, but find out it is the wrong model fob for our vehicle. * The detailing crew did a very poor job in cleaning the vehicle. Animal hair, chewed gum stuck to a hanger hook, dirty/stained fabric we have since cleaned. * There's a low tire pressure issue which we were told would get "fixed" before we purchased. The light came back on, meaning their "fix" was insufficient. * Back windshield wiper rubber is torn and needs to be replaced (I did miss that on my inspection, but thought perhaps they'd catch it!). * There were some issues with settling on a price. We were first told we could "find" a price we agreed on, followed by hearing they couldn't offer the car at a lower price-which wasn't a big deal, except we were told we could negotiate. * On the car lot we were told we'd get a year of free oil changes. Paper work confirmed it was only "one" free oil change and that, only within a month. All of these issues combined, made a poor impression. We can't wholeheartedly recommend purchasing from Gene Gorman's and will likely never...
