During vacation to Port Charlotte my wife, who is an avid diner and has had authentic Japanese cuisine was thrilled to be able to find this gem of a restaurant not far from our home here. She was so excited to find what, at the surface seemed to be authentic Japanese owned and operated restaurant.
The prices were reasonable, and I even expected the dishes to cost more. The taste was superb; I never had sushi before, and I loved everything we ordered (takoyaki, the fried oysters, the miso soup, grilled fish cheek, spicy tuna roll and more but I don’t recall the names) my wife loved the dishes and said it was expertly done by the Chef in authentic fashion.
We happened to dine in during an exceptionally busy evening where there was at least 10 tables placing orders, and did have a wait around 30-40 minutes for the food, but it was worth it. I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant, conversation, and a Kirin Ichiban Japanese beer during our wait. We had made reservations for 7pm, were seated promptly, and received our main food items by 7:40. I am going to be back in a week to treat my parents to the food served here. I will be sure to dine here every single time I come back to the Punta Gorda area.
TL;DR Japanese owned, expert sushi chef, good prices, great food, Dont come starving as there may be a delay in receiving your food, but the wait...
Read moreThis was the most amazing, delicious Japanese restaurant I have ever been to. When you first pull up, you don't expect much. It is in a plaza off in a cut. But when you walk in it is traditional Japanese. The sushi chef is an older Japanese gentleman and his wife I'm assuming, seated us and brought out hot rolled washcloths, which are traditional in Japan. The server was so attentive. We ordered a volcano roll, pork gyoza, and the beef filet mignon entrée, which included miso soup and ginger salad. First he brought out the gyoza, as soon as we were done, he took the plate and shortly after, he brought out the soup then volcano roll. As soon as we were finished, he took the bowls and plates and brought our salads. As soon as we were done with those, the little older Japanese lady took those bowls and not long after dinner came. There was a smooth transition from one dish to the next and no long wait. The beef entrée was so delicious. It was so juicy and tender. I've never tasted anything so delicious. We were the only ones there on a Saturday night which I couldn't understand. This place was amazing, it should have been packed. I would definitely give this place 5+ stars and definitely...
