I love Winn-Dixie markets! I shop the Winn just blocks from me in Cape Coral. Itâs in great strip mall with ACE hardware (the only ACE in the Cape), Quest Diagnostics Lab, my nail salon, One-Price dry cleaners, good Chinese takeout and - best of all 𼳠Stuff-a-Bagel where New Yorkers like me can get ârealâ bagels from plain to Everything and in between, Nova Lox & a full menu that includes sandwiches - including my fav .. a bagel, cream cheese, nova w/included things like capers). I digressed from Winn-Dixie sorry! Iâm a regular shopper at the other âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ places I mentioned .. know âem well. W-Dâs location is appreciated by me. ACE hardware for UdderBalm, a quick manicure, drop/pick up an alteration from One/Price Cleaners, a Stuff-a-Bagle sandwich? Itâs all there. So back to W-D. Best things about it are ⢠Their App on which on-same items, your grocery list and ⌠did I mention W-Dâs Points program? The app tells me Iâve saved over $600 01-09 2023. Considering I shop other grocery stores (eg I donât love W-Dâs meats, and I buy my bread from Marioâs, located just over the Cape Coral bridge. Marioâs deserves a 10-star review from me - later Marioâs - as it has no rivals within a 50-mile radius for meats, Italian deli, bakery & all things Italian. Look it up or just go. Itâs not just a market, itâs a great experience. Bread? I cross the bridge for Marioâs BREAD. So WINN-DIXIE. Great app, great BAKERY (except bread đ) great sales, wonderful employees, and next door to lots of places we all need to go sometimes (need a kayak? Thereâs a West Marine that shares a wall with Winn-Dixie). A word about Winn-Dixieâs BAKERY: Dunno about you, but Iâm not a fan of grocery store cakes, draw the line at buttercream frosting. Just too sweet and un-homemade for me đ¤˘. But WINN-DIXIE makes its own whipped cream frosting. And THANK YOU W-D for making it available by the 1/2 lb to 10000 lbs (call the day before). When nothing but a homemade for adults will do - from weekly Potluck occasions, Birthdays, holidays - WHO WANTS TO TAKE A GROCERY STORE CAKE when others have worked hard in their kitchens on THEIR dish? Not me, nope. Still ⌠Iâm not above cheating a little and Winning-Dixieâs white, whipped cream frosting is better than any frosting I can make. I might add raspberries to it for a layer cake or some nice powdered chocolate (get Ghirardelli at Winn-Dixie when youâre picking up that frosting). Alone, or as a base to add what you want to it, itâs the best. And itâs FREE! * Yesterday I hopped over for a BOGO 2 $19 bottles of good Cabernet, who wouldnât? Iâll hop over when red, yellow, orange peppers in Produce is BOGO per pound, who wouldnât? During a regular grocery shop recently, I had to look twice after seeing medium (40?) fresh FL shrimp, skins on for ⌠sit down. $5.99 a pound, a $19 savings. Yes. I had to smell it because .. you know. â That night was shrimp scampi on fettuccine night for us + for our neighbors who, if I had doubts before, now love me like mad (well ⌠there IS one, who no amount of ⌠nevermind). A few not-so-great things about Winn/Dixie are ⢠Their liquor store is overpriced. Go to Wallgreens imho ⢠The Winn near me has no pharmacy ⢠Meats? No. Especially their SE Grocers brand. BOGO, on-sale or not, just say no. A SE Grocer ribeye that looked perfect to me (even better @ $7.99/lb). Youâve heard âchew & spit? â ⢠Not all SE GROCER things arenât good. But most arenât the greatest. Except the hummus, but itâs not awesome and you wonât save. Ditto with their dairy: sour cream, cream cheese, butter, milk ⌠itâs not BAD, itâs just not great and itâs priced = to good-great brands. SE Grocersâ Yogurt? Just say NFW. No active cultures, made with rBST treated cows, nuff said. ⢠But their fresh blue, black and rasp berries you might put IN your Fage? Always fresh. And - like all grocery stores everywhere, theyâre BOGO or 3 for $10. Theyâre berries.
This store may not be a bright, shiny, updated store but itâs small enough to find what you need and it is sufficiently organized and generally clean with in date foods on the shelves and in cases. It reminds me of grocery stores from the good ole days!
The regular prices are lower side the normal pricing range for grocery stores in the area.
We have found that the WD meats are often better tasting, better quality and much less expensive when featured in their weekly sale ads than the local Publix stores.
Watch the weekly ads and stock up on the generously slashed sale prices to stretch your dollar! Also sign up for the WD app and enter your phone number with the checkout clerk for even greater savings!
The store manager at this store is kind and helpful but sometimes the check out staff is slow and could be a bit more knowledgeable ⌠but be patient and check your receipt because unfortunately there are regularly mistakes on our receipt especially on weekly sales items.
If you want decent overall prices & great sale prices but prefer a big, super clean and modern grocery experience with crowded parking lots and aisles you might want to shop at a newer Winn-Dixie store such as the one in Port Charlotte.
We donât mind the old style store with a laid back attitude and minimal crowds at the Punta Gorda, FL Winn-Dixie. Our...
Read moreItâs really hard to give this store an honest review. The cashiers are decent for the most part but the management is awful. They seem to always be sitting behind a desks instead of out on the floor ensuring their store is running efficiently - like today, during slow season I should add with a line all the way to the bakery, the customer service cashier with the military style haircut was very rude to me about having âway moreâ than 5 items and âcanât you see the signâ â you need to follow rulesâ (in his defense I did have 8 items, but did not see the sign) so he wouldnât help me at customer service, then proceeded to go to the back and essentially hide leaving the rest of the customers in the customer service line to just stand there. Which left one cashier at register 2 and no other employee anywhere that we could see. Times are too hard for everyone now for customerâs to be repeat customers in a place that treats them with such disregard. Iâve been coming to this same store at least 3 times a week for 5 years or more and am saddened by how much itâs declined in recent months. I...
