I was at the church for the first time today and the. beginning was powerful then the sermon started which i have been in every type of church and heard Mathew 5.1 to 5.12 Introduction to the Sermon on the hill well this place i didn't feel Jesus words in this church. i Heard we need money , i heard politicians views even said god create government, i heard about his family dysfunction, We were spoke to as if we didnāt understand words and he gave different meanings based on his agenda, and he boasted about they having 12,000 people on sunday. he also threatened people they would be forced to worship on Saturday if we donāt help them get 750 more chairs. i feel i am spiritual and i respect all religions but this was my first time i had to walk out church. He should and did a rocky impression and shot at crowd. thou should not kill. Now jesus never said could i heal you give me money and jesus sermon on the hill is powerful and christ wasnāt in one sentence. It was all the things christ got crucified for government, religion greed of Jewish temples and he would not say killing another human would be justified. I wanted to stand up and scream this isnāt jesus words there was no love, compassion, forgiveness . I really needed Jesus today which this church. People come to church for spiritual guidance. Church and state shouldnāt mix . You should take people from the space of suffering and empower them heal. i left angry with hate he spoke. Remember christ doesnāt care about a political leader because no man has power over him . He wouldnāt allow a government to control a world while teaching consumption by saying my son ran water in a bath room and this speaker said 2 toilet are not enough for 12 people and the water damage would have cost him money.
first Jesus spoke aramaic which this guy was telling us english and how he meant the words with today english. time and knowledge buddy jesus didnāt speak english. So donāt translate god words again . Then the salt of ground statement was awful he salty which is new term as a personality. He doesnāt speak the word of christ just his own beliefs. If his church is going there to get political view then they should learn the constitution of America about the government canāt control religion that is why we came to American.
Here is the real sermon very powerful ! Introduction to the Sermon on the Mount
5 Now when Jesus saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2 and he began to teach them.
The Beatitudes
He said:
3 āBlessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 āBlessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy review from 2 months ago was hidden by either the platform or the church so here is a repost. Also Pastor Bill went on sabbatical the week after I posted my review so keep that in mind.
Been going to Rock Point with my family for a little over a year. Iāve had a lot of time to form an opinion. So here it is. TLDR; Pastor Bill Bush is a textbook, overt narcissist. He maintains absolute dominance through intimidation and negging, which completely gets in the way of Jesus message.
In Billās preaching, Jesus is never presented as an inspiring figure; naturally compelling and worth following. Instead He's portrayed as a boilerplate authority that you must obey or suffer. Thatās it.
This is a shadow pattern for the larger problem of Pastor Billās ego. Every week, Bill talks down to us as if none of us are follow Jesus. To him, weāre all just self-centered, bad people who need someone to yell at us like a drill sergeant, or we wonāt obey God. And to obey is to give Bill⦠sorry I mean God your money. What the pastor is really saying is that Pastor Bill is your authority. And you will do what he says or get yelled at and shamed.
Iām suspicious Billās the one who struggles to find Jesus compelling in his real life. He never talks about why Jesus is a naturally desirable person to him; why Bill himself is helplessly in love with his personal savior. Or why any person couldnāt help but love Christ.
No. Bill preaches an insufferable Jesus, because deep down Bill knows he himself is insufferable. And he needs everyone to obey him. So, he berates you until you feel so ashamed that you will do whatever Bill says to avoid disappointing Christ. Which again, means giving Bill⦠sorry I mean God, more of your money.
To that point, Bill Bush acts like no one gives money to the church. But just visit the campus. Just watch one service online. Thereās an opulent amount of money flowing into the ministry. Money handled via practices that are not publicly visible. If Bill is so committed to humility and the truth, Iād love to see some financial transparency. How much does Bill make? How can we be sure? Does he rid himself of his wealth as Christ warns? I am doubtful.
Jesus is worth reading. Jesus is worth following. Jesus. But not Bill. Perhaps Jesus is there in the self-sacrifice of the many many invisible volunteers that work for him for free. But Billās ego is so big, itās hard to pick Christ out in the crowd of lives being used to prop up one man.
Thanks...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGranted, the pastor cares deeply about the church and we love the people and the pastors, but the EXCEPTION is too important to ignore. Rock Point recently ended a series on Spiritual Warfare called The Invisible War by Chip Ingram. Pastor Bush quotes this man almost verbatim in more than just this series. We attended a Rock Point small group in our neighborhood, where they played the video companion to this series. It teaches believers to speak to the devil, binding and rebuking him. Nowhere in the scriptures does it tell believers to speak to the devil, only to God. This teaching is common among Word of Faith churches (name it and claim it; health, wealth and prosperity gospel), but it is not Biblical. It is again, a man-made assumption that this is what the scriptures teach. It is not understood in context. The scriptures make it clear that only God has the authority to rebuke Satan. They even point out that the archangel Michael was careful not to directly rebuke the devil, but instead said, "The Lord rebuke you." And in another place in the scriptures, a person who tried to use the name of Jesus to cast out demons was attacked by the demons instead because they knew Paul and Jesus had authority to do so, but not this man. I don't even know if demons still possess people anymore. No one in my family or in the church we used to go to has ever witnessed demon possession. We even asked a Christian friend of ours who teaches at Oxford and around the world (and visits many of the third world countries that are said to experience these things more frequently) and he has never seen it either. That's not to say that it doesn't still happen. We've just never seen it before. We are wondering if it hasn't died out with the early church apostles. But we have seen people become overly obsessed with them after a series like this, and even feel as though we were ostracized by our small group, after openly asking if these teachings are Biblical. Some of the group members became angry at us for doing so. We were shocked at how passionate they were that these things were true, especially the group leaders. We just got here, and already, we feel we must leave. This is so...
