Well, after I enjoyed the restaurant last night, this morning before leaving I went into the store. I was not getting fuel, so I didn't want to block fuel lanes and pulled up to what I thought was "out the way." There were no "no parking" signs. I had planned to purchase products, did my shopping, and was in line at the register. The lady at the fuel register proceeded to berate me in front of other customers because she couldn't see her pumps because of the "18 wheeler in her way." I did not realize I was in the way, so instead of embarrassing me, she could have asked me politely to set me stuff down and asked me to move my truck. No, she decided that scolding me rudely in front of everyone was the better way to go. My wife and I always stop here every chance we get when coming thru and spend 100's of $$'s and have always enjoyed it, but she has ruined that. So during her berating and not offering anywhere to set my stuff down and go move my truck, we set our stuff down on your beer boxes and walked out without purchasing anything. The evil 18 wheeler left. Her rudeness was unnecessary. What has happened to common decency anymore. RESTAURANT GETS 5...
ย ย ย Read moreFood was amazing, as usual, front desk service was awful. I was not greeted right away when I walked in, though it was almost empty. It was around 4pm. When the hostess looked up, after a few minutes, from counting her change, she said go sit anywhere. When no one came to take my order, I got up and walked back to the hostess and asked if I had come at a bad time. She shrugged, and the waitress became apologetic. The waitress came right over as I seated myself again, and was still apologizing. Her service was very good, and after she brought my check, I went to the bathroom, planning on coming back for another drink and sit for a while. I specifically told the waitress I was coming right back, but when I came back, they had seated someone at my booth, and my change was no where to be seen. Let me say again, the place was almost empty because of the time, and I did not need to be rushed out of there and my table given to someone else. I drove in from Houston on my way to Lafayette and specifically stopped because of the good food. The food did not disappoint, but I did not feel welcome or valued...
ย ย ย Read moreBoudin was terrible the first time I stopped and got one. The skin wasn't crisp and the sausage had to be squeezed out of the casing like a popsicle. I was in the area and decided to try it again and it was perfect. Casing was edible and crunchy. The boudin balls are very good as well. They're always running out of stuff on the menu though. Their cracklings are so good. Bits of pork belly fried to perfection a different style than what I'm used to on the east coast. The girl at the counter can be a little bit nicer and more hospitable as well. You ask her a question about the menu and she looks away from you while she's talking . Not sure what that's about but I'm not used to all the intricacies of the Deep South as I'm a northern yankee. Maybe a quibble that should be viewed from an objective point of view. The consternation I felt makes me think...
