My family and I take a trip to MT every summer and always make a stop at the Trading Post in Cooke City. This year was much different. Today our group of 10 walked into the establishment and were allowed to walk around, enjoy ourselves and find things we wanted to purchase for a good 15 minutes without masks before a RUDE woman came storming out from the back yelling, "EVERYONE without a mask is to leave the store IMMEDIATELY." We then try to tell her we will put our masks on if the store was that strict on the wear of them, and she kept pushing our entire group out. I then explained that if she wanted us to make our purchases she should really be more polite about policies. She then raises her voice at me in front of the whole store and says, "I don't want your business, get out now." I said trust me we are. Then to top it all off as we were having the door slammed in our face she yells out, "you all smell!"
Not sure if this woman is the owner, management, or just another worker, but for her to kick an entire group out that had armfuls of items to purchase? and were willing to put our masks on to do so was extremely, EXTREMELY immature and unprofessional. We always spend a lot of money here and now never will again. Very...
Read moreThis store started off strange but ending terrible! Asked if we could bring our well behaved dog on a leash in the store. We were told yes as long as we carried them. So o did just that. After exploring the store my family and I walk outside and sat on a bench while waiting for the other half of our family to come out. When they walked out of the store they started walking toward where we were sitting. Suddenly an older man came out of the store and rudely walked through my family knocking them out of his way including my pregnant wife. The icing on the cake is that as he did this my 6 year old niece was standing in front and he physically shoved her hard and said to get out of his way. We then confronted him and his rude actions and he walked up to my nieces father and got extremely close to his face and seemed like he would become violent soon. He proclaimed that he was the store owner and little kids shouldn’t be blocking his sidewalk. It was honestly shocking at such behavior. My niece was crying bc she didn’t understand what was happening and why this guy pushed her. Will never return to this...

At first he was friendly but as he rang up my items he asked me what my "nationality" was. I told him I am American. I don't like being asked what my nationality or ethnicity is because that's nobody's business. He then asked where I was from and I told him that I am from Minnesota. He apparently didn't like my answers and became a little bit rude and did not thank me for my business. Whatever. This store must get a lot of visitors of a certain demographic so I think that's why the cashier asked me about my background. Anyway, it's an interesting shop. I like these kinds of gift shops. I'm not sure if I'd visit again. People just need to mind their own business and not ask...
