When I first met Beau Kohorst (the sole worker and owner) It was when we bought a boat that he inspected. It immediately started having problems. He said he would take care of us and give us a discount. At first he was very promising, coming to our house and working on it. I have limited knowledge on boats but has since learned.
We found the engine and out drive (inboard pontoon) were miss aligned. He hammered the alignment tool into the splines. Where you are meant to adjust the engine mounts.
We took it out and it had the same issue. He then said he would rebuild the lower unit. We gave him $1000 to do it. He failed to rebuild it and the reverse stopped working.
Now we are 4 months in with a $13,000 paperweight while he rebuilds it. It takes multiple calls and visits where he is never working on it. He promises us that it will be done tomorrow every time.
2 more months go by. He says that he is closing up shop and done with customers boats. This is a lie, he is still repairing boats for customers.
We come to pick up the boat (unfinished). We get there and he says he will refund our $1000, we did not bring it up, but we were going to expect some money back.
2 weeks go by and we visit and call him. He goes back on his promise and says the parts costed him money (claimed $800) so he would like to keep that.
I look the rebuild kit up and it is ranging from $400-$600. I ask for receipts which he would have gotten emailed from buying the parts online.
He asks me âdo you not trust me?â I answer, âno, and why should Iâ
I ask for the receipts later and he sayâs he didnât even try to get them.
A week later he calls and shows up with another boat, takes the lower unit off and puts it on ours.
We test the boat and it works⌠MOMENTARILY!
The same problem continues on our way back to the landing.
He has now been dodging my calls and I cannot seem to line up me coming and him being at his garage.
His lack of communication, dishonesty, overzealous promises, and his overconfidence combined with his lack of knowledge makes for bad business.
Not to mention he comes off brash when I have shown him my utmost respect. This is what he says is due to nagging customers.
I have never once gotten a receipt. This is an illegitimate business and he has costed us a summer of headache, we are $14,000 down, and more yet to spend to make this boat work.
Be warned as I have now heard multiple stories of people not seeing there boat for a summer and having to pick it up themselves with no refund whatsoever.
Lots of wasted time and money for a single mother of 6 wanting to get out on the lake.
He did say that he would be a helping hand if I had any questions to the get boat aligned and get the correct things replaced after I had educated myself.
Last I have made contact (after many attempts) he said that he would be there that day. He never showed up and wasted another one of my limited days off.

Read moreBrought my boat to them originally for a fix he said he could take care of. After being told my motor needed a complete rebuild for $3,200 I tried to pay for it with my card. He told me he only accepted cash which was weird for a legitimate business. I unfortunately forked over half the cash with promises of a brand new rebuilt motor when he was done and a 2 year warranty. After months of waiting for my boat to be done and many calls and texts and Beua replying back, "Dude, I have 30 jet skis to do", even after I already paid him, I was regretting my choice to let him try to fix my boat. After months of waiting for him to finally fix what he promised to do, he said that he threw a couple parts in the motor that would get me by for the rest of the summer and that over winter he would rebuild the engine. After this he asked for the rest of the money owed for the rebuild. I paid him the rest of the money and was given a receipt with promises of doing the rebuild in the next couple months. This was over 1 1/2 years ago and I am still not able to get a hold of Beua about doing my motor rebuild. I have called, texted and facebooked him multiple times and there is never an answer. Nothing on my boat was fixed and he kept my $3,200 and stopped replying to all communication. Do yourself a favor and skip this guy and bring your boat to an actual shop, not a scammer in a garage. After looking up his criminal record and talking with a few friends that are deputies for the county who have dealt with him many many times, I now understand why this behavior is nothing new. Legal action is next...
Read moreWhat an absolute godsend Beau is! Argu you believe the absolute best job and he has this confidently say misunderstanding of Marin vehicles and top-notch talent. And his crew are enthusiastic at understanding the customers problems and also knowing that they can happen without warning. They are committed at tackling the issues in a very short period and getting your life back to normal without any added stress. UPDATED: The quality of service that was performed was good. My issue required of dropping an inboard motor out to replace starter bolt. So it was a big task to do and they did it very well although fully completing the issue at hand when it took a week while my family only had a week of vacation at the lake was below average. $1150.00 later (and also issues when trying to get ahold of the owner to pick up the boat on a time constraint was extremely disappointing) lighter in the bank account and boat STILL IS NOT FIXED. In short, paid to get nothing done. If you have expendable money to burn, then this is the place. For hard-working blue-collar people trying to support a family and getting by, maybe try somewhere else.
**Update: The service was completed but it was extremely short cutted. He used 20 flat washers instead of a longer bolt to secure his previous promise to correct all problems. Stay away from this guy. Has threatened me about legal action but I have hard copies of how he is outta his league of pleasing paying customers. Had to wake him up to get...
