This center is one of the most important in the area and needs more community support and engagement.
Very little other than wonderful things can be said for a small center in the middle of Ridgeland, South Carolina continuing the dialogue on Lowcountry heritage and making specialty programs available to children at no cost.
Events like the Meet and Greet for reptiles, Turtles, Lowcountry Raptors, and more require fair admission charges at most facilities offering the programming. MCfLH makes no such request, only recently requesting a small contribution ($10) for Marsh Tacky and the Oyster events that are more costly for them to put on. Admission is always free though and there is something for the whole family. Now, adults may find the three room building a bit small, but as a parent, I can say categorically that small and school aged children will happily spend an afternoon playing and learning. This is an honest treasure for the area that I hope is supported by municipal benefactors as well as patrons.

We had a nice brief tour by the docent and were left to wander the exhibits. There is a rotating low country musical exhibit, a very interesting Civil War as well as Black Servicemen of WWII exhibit.
