We live within a 5 minute drive of what some people consider some of the best seafood restaurants in the state. We took a A leisurely Sunday excursion led us to Fiddlers Seafood, it immediately stood out in its own unique way. Unlike the bustling waterfront seafood giants catering to the masses, Fiddlers embodied a refreshingly different approach. They preserved the authenticity of southern classics and it was evident and truly commendable. Stepping into this unassuming storefront, we found ourselves in a space that was comfortable in ir’s simplicity. The chalkboard menu added a touch of old-world charm, while the laid-back atmosphere set the stage for a relaxing experience. What truly stole the show, however, was the food. "Great" was what I came up with after the first bite to describe the food we ordered. The operative word here was "simple," and Fiddlers embraced it wholeheartedly. In a world where many restaurants strive to modernize and add twists to traditional dishes, Fiddlers proudly stayed true to their roots. This adherence to time-honored recipes was a breath of fresh air. Every bite told a story of southern culinary heritage, unadulterated by attempts to reinvent the wheel. It was a reminder that sometimes, keeping things straightforward and genuine can create the most delightful experiences. As a couple with extensive experience in the food and beverage industry, we easily could have slipped into the habit of critiquing and suggesting adjustments. But Fiddlers' charm lay precisely in its unpretentious simplicity. This small-town gem was a sanctuary where embracing the basics was not just acceptable, but embraced. It was a reminder that sometimes, less is indeed more. A return visit is without question. Armed with the knowledge of the exceptional quality we encountered, we're excited to venture into more uncharted culinary territories on our next trip. The first visit, like many, might have prompted us to stick with the familiar, but the next time promises to be a more adventurous exploration. Fiddlers, you've certainly won us over with your dedication to genuine flavors and humble authenticity. Your commitment to staying true to your roots is a commendable feat, and we can't wait to relive the experience. Kudos to you, Fiddlers, for a job...
Read moreVisited on a Thursday night at 8pm. Packed, with someone playing a guitar in the front corner, it was nothing like the daytime photos. I'm traveling for a funeral and alone, and immediately was uncomfortable with the loud, crowded, dingy, fluorescent flooded atmosphere. I decided I'd rather not dine in so I approached the woman working behind the counter by the kitchen to inquire about a menu so I could order carryout.
She didn't even make eye contact with me, but rather rudely, LITERALLY over-looked me, standing quietly but awkwardly, right at the corner staring at her trying to catch her eye, waiting for her simply acknowledge my existence. Meanwhile, she asked if she could help not one, but two others who had approached behind me. I'm pretty sure I'm not invisible, but she ignored me so steadfastly I began to wonder.
After she ignored me to assist the second person I finally spoke up and asked if they had a menu so I could order carryout. She said no and then asked if I had a cellphone for some reason. I didn't bother waiting around for her to tell my why. Does she know what a "menu" is? Are words on paper too intellectually challenging for the staff of Fiddler's? How do they not have menus in this dumpster of a restaurant?
I chose to leave rather than dine in. Rude staff, a crowded, ugly and loud restaurant, I can't believe I wasted my time driving fifteen miles to this trash heap based on all the glowing reviews. I can only assume many of the fawning reviews are from people who are either employees, friends or diners who simply haven't been exposed to anything better, because Fiddler's isn't worth the single star I'm...
Read moreI recently ordered takeout from this restaurant, and the experience was mostly positive. My order, which included shrimp and scallops, was prepared on time, hot, and ready to go—perfectly cooked with great flavor. The seafood was tender, with the shrimp and scallops both cooked excellently, making it a satisfying meal. The portion size was generous, offering more than enough for lunch.
However, the sides were a mixed bag. The onion rings were crispy and delicious, but unfortunately, the fries were a letdown. They were soggy and mushy, which detracted from the overall meal. I’m hopeful this was a fluke, as I’d like to think the restaurant offers better side options.
Another minor issue was the cocktail sauce, which had a good flavor but was unusually jelly-like in texture. It made dipping the thinly battered seafood difficult, forcing me to scoop it with a fork instead.
Despite these small issues, the seafood itself was good enough that I’d consider trying this restaurant again. I’ll be curious to see if the fries were just an off batch or if their other sides offer a...
