Very VERY rude employees, me and my friend were taking a walk and the man told us to get off the course, we obliged and went in the direction he told us to although we needed to go the opposite way, we turned to go the way we needed the same guy speeded towards us in his ugly truck and told us we needed to get off again we let him know we were in the direction we needed to go and he tried to make us go the other way again. We kept walking while he parked his car and stared at us the entire time. We turned and waved goodbye to let him know we were leaving and he rushed into his truck and raced to us AGAIN but by that time we were already off the course. He peeled out and drove away again. He told us the course is private but there were no warning signs about trespassing and the website (and front gate) says public course. We went back because it says PUBLIC COURSE and the same guy followed us close behind in his truck and called the police on us. He claimed we were recording him harassing him and flipping him off but we hadnt done any of that. My friend called his dad and the man completely changed his attitude saying the course was private and he was looking out for our safety (even though he tried to force us to go the opposite direction of our home) he said the course was private and we needed to be a member JUST to walk. The membership's are way over priced and the course in general is in horrible condition and it looks like it hasn't been touched in years. The ducks are so mistreated they haven't attempted to help a goose that has had a broken wing for a year now she wasn't able to migrate, once again horrible course. If you're driving there...
Read moreI grew up in belen and played here many times, although it has been 10+ years. Came back home for a visit and figured I would play a round and I was saddened by how terrible shape this once beautiful course has become. It seemed to have more dead grass and dirt than fairway. Maybe they are getting their water cut off because of the drought? I remember a small pond on the back 9 and it was completely dried up and empty. Broken tree limbs and sticks everywhere. Sand traps had trash and rocks larger than a golf ball in them. Some greens were in great shape others like 14 (I think) had a huge dead spot that was nothing but dirt. I can’t believe I payed 40 bucks for this course should have went to Albuquerque and paid 50. At least they have grass. Hopefully someone can care enough to fix the place up because I would love to play the course I remember from...
Read morePlayed a scramble, supporting veterans, here on November 2nd. Late in the year for golf in NM. The course was in really bad shape. More so than can be accounted for by the late time-of-year. Lost a number of balls that landed in the fairway or the first cut (there is no first cut) of rough. Multiple areas had large areas of fresh, loose dirt spread on the course, including one tee box that was all fresh dirt. Driving the cart on the fairway was like driving down a washboard dirt and gravel road, with the occasional speed bump. The carts are old with at least one cart that wouldn't turn. But, I was told they are trying to get the course back in shape. And it is a fun, early 60's layout golf course with at least two holes with 90 degree dog legs. Going to give it another...
