I visited Prospect Treasures for the first time on 2/14/24. I had just a few minutes before an appointment, quickly found four pieces of art + a lamp that I liked, purchased them, and left. After arriving home later I noticed I was charged $31.50 for a vase instead of $4.50 for a framed botanical print. The other four items on the receipt were correct.
This was not a matter of a mis-key, since the incorrect product number on the receipt was not at all similar to the product number on the framed botanical print price sticker which I was supposed to be charged for.
I left a voice mail that was never returned. I tried calling multiple times over the next two months, both during store hours and after. The phone was never answered and the mailbox was always full. I finally reached owner Paul by phone on 4/5. He did not acknowledge receiving my voice mail in February, nor did he seem very concerned or apologetic about his mistake. He instructed me to text a copy of the receipt and other details to his wife Linda and said she would take care of it. I did so immediately, with no response. I followed up on 4/12, again with no response.
I live about 40 minutes away and have no other reason to drive to that area, otherwise I would dispute the charge in person. Today I filed a dispute with my credit card company, since clearly these owners are not interested in correcting their mistake. Not only did they overcharge me, but their consignment client who brought in the art did not get credited for that sale. And if the vase I was charged for was a real item in inventory, that consignment client would have received payment for an item that did not actually sell.
After the way I have been ignored, I'm left feeling that I was taken advantage of because I was in a hurry. It's baffling that a small business like this would not want to correct a mistake promptly and with sincere apologies. I had hoped to continue shopping at Prospect Treasures, but I will never...
Read moreMade a reservation 2 months in advance for a U-haul truck. We called a week in advance to make sure we had a one-way truck to Moorehad Ky. The gentleman named Paul was very rude about the call. He assured us that we would have the vehicle. Called him the day before the rental and again was reassured we’d have our truck. We went to pick the truck up and was told by a very rude Paul, that they don’t have it and won’t let us use one of the other 3 in his lot because they are local trucks. No warning or call. I reminded him that he assured us 3 times we’d have the vehicle and he asked us to leave. Paul also had 3 identical trucks on his lot. But THESE trucks were going to be a lot more money. This is called bait and switch. Do not trust anything these people tell you. Paul is a rude liar and with business practices like this, his business won’t be around long. I will be filing a complaint with the Attorney General office. I would file complaint with BBB but they are not a member. That should tell you something. Very unethical and deceptive business practices. Stay away. Their word means zero, and he...
Read moreHorrible experience. Don’t take anything valuable here. They will say they sold it for nothing, even though you may have agreed upon a lowest sales price. I was absolutely ripped off. Upon questioning, owner turned from very courteous to very rude and dismissive. This is highway robbery. And there is no recourse, your item sells for whatever they want, if it is really sold at all. You will never know the truth. And you are lucky to profit 10% of what they say they listed it for. Perhaps only take low value items or things you perhaps would have been fine giving away, because in essence, that is what I did. I “gave” it to the owner, for basically nothing. I will continue to use consignment in Georgetown. Close to home and will get much better return. Should have...
