For those of you who may be looking for an old fashioned experience where a business is just as friendly and willing to help you with things that come up (such as repairs) after they sell you something as they are when they sell you something, Great Furniture Deal is your place to do business! Shoot!, I didn’t even buy my sofa from them that needed a new motor and switch for one of the recliners, and they were happy and friendly to me as well as extremely reasonably priced in getting parts to me. I might add, I spoke with at least three people and they were all knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. THESE FOLKS ARE INTRINSICALLY NICE!!
Now for a bit of the back story: We live in Logan. My wife grew up in a small Idaho community with the owner of Fisher’s Home Furnishings and one of my friends in high school is the salesman their with whom we’ve done business for over 30 years. We don’t have a single piece of furniture that wasn’t purchased from Fisher’s. Furthermore, when we built a home, we purchased all our flooring, appliances and new furniture from them.
Fisher’s told me they could get me a motor for $300 plus tax and a switch for $150 plus tax. It would take several weeks to get the parts in and an additional several weeks to have their repairman, who comes in once a month, come and fix our sofa for $119 an hour. Here’s the real catch, once I ordered the parts, they were mine. If the parts didn’t work or weren’t what I needed, I could not return them.
Great Furniture Deal had the parts in stock. The switch was $36 and the motor was $170. I wasn’t charged for shipping and I had the parts in my hands the next day. Plus, if they weren’t the right parts, I could have returned them.
Riverton is just not that far from Logan. I know exactly where I’ll go whenever we are looking for furniture again. My best advice is for you to do the same.
Everyplace treats you like royalty when you’re purchasing something from them. Well, this place treats you the same way when you’re in need of parts to repair...

For TEN AND A HALF WEEKS after I placed my order, I had to send 34 text messages, make 12 phone calls, and track the order online countless times…
…all to make sure I got the 2 chairs my wife and I wanted!
---SLOPPY ordering process---
When I ordered the chairs on October 27, they didn’t tell me the chairs were not in stock and had to be made to order in Tennessee, which led to us being forced to wait until November 22 for them to be finished!
--- RISKY purchasing process---
They apparently leave credit card authorizations open for a day or two after you place your order, which (I feel) somehow leaves your card information vulnerable to hackers. Not long after I placed my order, one of my accounts was hacked and that card had to be replaced. That’s NEVER happened to me before, because I’m EXTREMELY careful with my cards and accounts, so I don’t believe this is a coincidence!
---NIGHTMARE shipping process---
The freight company I had to deal with, AM Home Delivery, has NO CLUE what they’re doing!
ALL their employees speak broken English, their automated phone system leaves garbled messages, and they can’t keep track of what they’re supposed to be transporting!
TEN DAYS after our chairs were finished, on December 3, they picked them up from the manufacturer. They’re so disorganized, they SPLIT MY ORDER up and spent the NEXT 8 DAYS shipping each chair in OPPOSITE directions: one south to Georgia, and the other north towards us!
After I complained, it took them ANOTHER 8 DAYS to fix their mistake and get both chairs to the warehouse closest to me in Iowa, where they SAT FOR ANOTHER 3 WEEKS until they finally managed to deliver them to our house in Illinois on January 9.
And so much for their "white glove" delivery they brag about..the only white I saw was the snow they tracked all over our hardwood floors!
This whole ordeal has completely destroyed the buying experience for us. We will NEVER do business with Great...
Read moreIf you value your time and money and want to receive what you paid for, then do NOT do business with this company. Not only did we have to miss over one week of work to keep being available for the delivery that kept getting delayed and/or canceled, but then the furniture arrived damaged. It was coated in a residue, had nicks on it, did not fully function, etc. We were forced to deal with Barbara for the delivery issues and damages and, as other reviewers have attested, she simply does not care about whether you receive good service or what you paid for. She told us that she would refund the delivery costs and did not. We placed the order last October and still have damaged furniture at home with no resolution. Now that I have seen the other negative reviews, I realize that we are just one of many to whom they have done this. We took the steps to mark the damages on the delivery sheet (per their policy), so the poor service is not just to those whom they can bully by saying, "You should have noted it on the delivery sheet" (which other reviewers mentioned). Our purchase totaled several thousand dollars, so there is apparently no purchase, large or small, that they value enough to provide good service. I have made other large purchases from other companies in the last 1-36 months and I have never experienced these issues. We have, for example, ordered from Ashley Furniture and Coleman Furniture and have had no issues. I would gladly have paid several hundred more dollars to not deal with this company. Any savings you think you see when price comparing is truly not worth working with this company. I am, by nature, a very fair person and I will gladly update this review if we ever receive the delivery refund we were promised, replacement furniture or reasonable compensation for the damaged furniture. But, as a buyer, do you want "repaired" furniture that comes with a hassle or new,...
