Dissapontment-I loved the gym everything it is clean , but the personal trainer manager did me wrong. I went there for a 7 day trial and they wanted to talk to me ,so we went to the office. I talked to the one of the managers ,and got the same membership as my friend. Then, she asked the PT manager to come and talk to me . He was nice, I told him that I wanted to wait , and see if I would come consistently to the gym. He tried to convence me and asked me what is the issue or why not? If the issue was cost or something? I told him honestly that it is a lot of money and I am just working twice a week ,because I am college student. So, clearly I would not be able to afford that.Because it was $43 biweekly +membership. Then, I asked him if I could just see the Personal trainer 1 service only ,so it would be $43-2 classes once. I was clear and told him I just wanted to learn how to use equipment, so I wanted to see PT once and that’s it. I even asked him “ So , just to make sure I understand right. Because , I want to be clear. It would be the $43 once and that’s not going to keep going right”. He said “No, just once”. When I was signing he was like “ This is saying you own the card, This other paper says basically that you accept the $43 charge on your card”. I asked “Just once right?” he affirmed. Because, obviously I have other spends. He was explaining it to me since English it is my second language. But, I never saw the $569 total ,nor the contract in detail.Which I should not trusted him and read it little by little ,because those small letters are the worst. Then, after my yesterday college classes I went to the gym and they called me on my phone to reschedule 2 PT class ,because the PT was sick . I told them that I would go to see them personally. That manager told me the date for the appointment and she said “ The PT told me that you told her , you are just expected to see her once”. I said “ Correct, because I just want to learn how to use the machines”. She said “ But, You have a contract” . I said “Yes ,the membership”. She said “ No , the Personal Trainer contract”. I told her “ No, I explained to the PT manager that I just wanted to see the PT one class. I cannot affort that (which it is $29.99+$43 bi-weekly= $116per/Month + $49.99 annual fee). She asked me “Who did you talked to?” I pointed to the PT Manager. I told him “ I explained to you that I couldn’t afford that . I’m in college and just working 2 a week . I would of never accept that.” He said “ But, we did the math”. I responded “Yes, and that’s why I told you if I could do once”. I asked him “So , what do I do now”. He said “ I do not think we can do anything ,because you got a contract” . I asked him “ What about if I cancel the PT contract you did and stay with the $29.99 a month membership”. They both said there was not anyway to cancel. Then, he said “ Maybe you can put it in a credit card”. Which I just stare at him with dissapoinment, because I trust him which was my mistake. I asked him, “The day that we did the contract the other manager told me that I could cancel the membership with a $50 cancelation fee . That will automatically cancel the PT service right?”. He said “ No, they will just not you cancel it”.I asked him for a copy of the contract, went to my car and read the “Right to cancel” small letters parts. I went back to the gym , and refuted that it says that I have a right to cancel. The manager told me “ You are just able to cancel after the 5months”. In that paper said $569 total amount due. I told her “that is just a lot of money”, which she respond “ But, those are going to be the best 5 bars you’ve ever spend in your life”. I was so dissapointed , because I really wanted to do something for myself and it was my first experience in a gym. I was so motivated to work out with my friend , and this happened. I really liked the gym , but the contract thing dissapointed me so much. I’ve made the report to the company in charge.I am a “very easy going person” . But, I do not like people to do...
Read moreI am on the brink of canceling my entire membership with EOS and going to another company for my gym needs. Trying to cancel my personal training has been a nightmare. I had personal training for well over a year and was ready to cancel it.
I wanted to have June be my last month but kept getting the run around with the availability of canceling my account. I started pursuing this at the end of May. I was told only one training manager, Jenifer Ferrante, could cancel personal training and she was never available when I would go to the gym as well as call. I would get told they would have her call me back and she would never return my call. This went on for two weeks. I finally was able to get a hold of her and she cancelled my personal training on June 14th, 2024 the same day I was charged for personal training. She did not disclose to me that I had to pay 30 days after cancellation.
So when I was charged on 6/28 I asked her why I was charged again she told me that was probably just my last payment. I said okay that's fine. 7/12 came around and I noticed I was charged again and was very confused as to why. I tried calling and again could not get a hold of her. Other training managers apologized as they said they would help but Jennifer was the only one who could address my issues. I got tired of waiting and disputed the charge with my bank.
It wasn't until I found out in August, based on my normal club payment not going through due to the dispute, that the training would charge me 30 days after the cancellation date. I had to go up to the club to talk with Jennifer about why I was charged again on 8/13 and she explained the 30-day policy then. I said fine then 8/13 should take care of me and she replied yes I should not be charged again and showed me again where my plan was cancelled.
On Sept 17th, I checked my account and saw I was charged AGAIN the $88 training fee and was furious. I immediately called the gym and asked to speak with Jennifer. I got a hold of her and she explained to me there was another charge back. I explained to her I did not dispute anything and that no chargeback or refund was showing to my visa account as she said she saw in your system. I then went up to the club that same day and showed her my bank statements from June, July, and August as well as my August Discover statement to show that I paid my last payment. She saw it and was still confused as to why I was hit with another chargeback. I then called my bank on the phone while still at the gym and they confirmed there was only one chargeback. She understood but said they would still deny the refund request based on your system showing a chargeback. She said she would escalate it once I showed her my Sept bank statement just to confirm no chargeback or refund was showing in September.
I got my statement which again shows NO CHARGEBACK and emailed her the statements as proof. I have yet to hear back from her via email or phone. Quite frankly I am very upset I even have to go through all these lengths to get my money back that I should have never been charged. Had it been canceled when I was trying to have it canceled it would have never got to the end of July yet another has chargebacks in August.
This whole experience has me never wanting to sign up for personal training again and ready to start looking for other gyms. Not to mention I still have 3 sessions left to use, and the trainer I had no longer works there. I scheduled a session with a new trainer on Tuesday, September 17th and he never showed or responded to my message. If I cannot get my money back I will be forced to dispute it again with my Discover credit card and will cancel my EOS membership altogether. I will also let people know about my experience and discourage them from signing up with EOS which is a shame because it...
Read moreFirst off, BEAUTIFUL facility. Probably one of the nicest ones I've seen in a while. The price point is amazing for all that's included.
They won't honor the 7-day trial. You have to sign up for a membership FIRST (so why is that advertised???), unless i missed something in the fine print that says it's limited time only or something.... But i see comments where people did get the 7-day trial, meanwhile I was told very clear that it wasn't an option & that 3 days is the max i could try it and that the 3 days was a courtesy...
If you tell them you don't wanna sign up that day, be prepared for very snarky and rude responses, especially when talking to... i think his name was Matt. Yea.
I'm wanting to reinvest in a gym membership after sitting out 5 months for an injury. I just moved to the riverview(ish) area & wanted to try this gym out (mostly because it's closer) before i committed to going back to my other gym. I saw the free 7-day pass thing online & figured I'd try it out a week before the 1st (cause if i like it, I'll sign up on the 1st cause i like my bills that way).
The guy who gave me the tour was pretty cool. He asked if i wanted to sign up & simple. "I would like to do the 7-day trial first & try it out." To make this ever so long story short, Matt (who was not the guy that gave me the tour) told me they couldn't honor the trial. He said that the trial is over at the end of this month (it's June 24th though yall... let's math) & that Thursday (June 27th) was the latest I could try it out. But that he'd waive the $50 sign up fee if i sign up TODAY, & if by Thursday i didn't like it they'd refund it & it just makes more sense to save money & pay less signing up on the spot. I told him it wasn't about saving money or anything financial, that I didn't plan on putting money into any gym until the 1st (so that every month it comes out on the 1st). I just wanna see if going to THAT gym, at the time i go every morning, is more convenient than my usual. ESPECIALLY because i read about how crowded it gets. Given that a week trial is something thats actively marketed, i didn't think it'd be that hard. I did not go in with the intention of signing a contract that day, simple. Matt scoffs & is like "ok it's not a financial thing but you wanna wait until the first..." yikes, Matt. I spent 45 minutes in that gym, not even to work out but waiting and waiting & really just wanting to try out the free 7 days... and i probably (more than likely) would have signed up at the end of it. But bad customer service is really really bad for biz yall.
Again, nice facility. So if you're gonna do it, i say go for it. But go with the intent to sign up right then & there or go preparing to be haggled or scoffed at if you say "not today" or if you mention the free 7-day trial. & please be prepared for a crowd cause during the tour, we were pushing our way through people like Ybor in a...
