Food Lion — Local services in Roanoke

This isn't a bad Food Lion actually, despite it being in a rough looking area. I actually liked it. It's well stocked and the staff are friendly with the exception of one employee. This employee is a manager, surprisingly. His name is Neil. Not sure of his last name. He wears glasses. Neil is possibly one of the worst managers I have ever seen. I honestly had a hard time believing he was actually the manager. When I asked him for help, he asked "what can I do for you, buddy"? Calling me buddy. That's disrespectful because I'm much older than him. Then while I was asking him my question, he turned around to speak to someone else and totally ignored me for at least 2 minutes. When he finally decided it was time to listen to my question, he acted as if he couldn't hear what I was saying and made me repeat myself. I was very dissatisfied with the service this "manager" Neil provided.

I’ve been coming to this store since I was a kid and of course things change some of the people still work there from when I was a kid… with that being said the new younger and a couple older workers have became irritated by the fact they have to work here. It’s only one lane open and it’s express the older lady mentioned that it’s a express line & I replied your the only line open with my basket full of market I just made. They take 7-10 mins to open another register mins u it’s several store associates that’s just lingering around the shelves and one lady walking away with a drawer as if she was going to to count it and then open another lane which didn’t happen by the time my order was rang up. also I would like to add they call another older lady to open a register but she agains turns on the express instead of full service ???? These people don’t care to work here or care to give customer services...

The store is very nice!. As soon as I entered, I noticed how exceptionally, neat and well-placed everything is. The produce was nicely arranged, all of it was fresh and crisp looking. There's a great variety of things to be had there! I've been there three different times and each time, the employees are busy, stocking and keeping things in order. They seem to have a great deal of energy and enthusiasm, actually. The personnel are all very friendly! It's not just because my neighbor and friend "Peanut" works there that I write this glowing report, either! Lol. I always give people, who do a good job, positive feedback. it's very important for morale. People need to hear the good feedback. people are always quick to write the negative but it's just enhances one self-esteem to get a nice word every now and then!
