I had Indoor Air install a central AC unit and furnace at our rental property and a central AC unit at our residence in early 2016. First, I'm a bit obsessive about research and price quotes and spent many hours sitting with salespeople and getting quotes from seven different local providers: two small-scale, two mid-size and three large companies. The closest local competitor by staffing seemed to be Princeton Air. Indoor Air had such positive reviews on Angie's List, Yelp and Google that I asked Dennis how he was gaming the system, and he claimed that they had no dedicated staff for optimizing online reviews. The salesman for Princeton Air, by contrast, told me they hired someone in 2015 to manage their online presence, after I asked him why their negative reviews seemed to end about six months earlier, with significant negative reviews earlier. Indoor Air beat Princeton Air's prices by a surprisingly large margin right off the bat, and after some back and forth negotiating (I'm pretty aggressive on price.), he came within 5% of the lowest bid, which was an individual installer with no support staff. I've been surprised by the following: 1) The women who answer the phone always remember who I am and are genuinely friendly and helpful. 2) The service people came out within an hour after I accidentally put a box on a pipe in the attic that drains the water from the AC unit, such that water started dripping through the ceiling. I was mad as hell at them and quite obnoxious, thinking this was their installation fault; they remained patient and professional; and after the tech guy showed me the box on the pipe, he very patiently explained how he'd remedy things at no charge, even as the steam continued to rise from my ears, and then took care of it immediately, which made me very apologetic. 3) Yesterday, a tech came out to my house to look at a problem with a hot water heater that they didn't even install, fixed the problem and didn't charge me for it. (He had been out earlier for annual maintenance of the AC unit and was still in the area.) I tend to be skeptical about tradespeople until proven wrong, but Indoor Air consistently makes me trust their judgement and professionalism that regularly goes the second mile. They've done a couple of other little things for me like replace a thermostat, which required significant rewiring, and their pricing and professionalism in going the second mile without additional charges has been...
Read moreHistorically I would have happily recommended Indoor Air, however the last view interactions have significantly shaken my confidence in their ability to provide quality service and customer care.
History In 2021 on moving into new home I had Indoor Air (IA going forward for short), come evaluate the system. I knew it was not in great shape so went ultimately with their recommendation to install a new system. This process went great.
In 2024 at the 2.5 year mark the motor in the system had issues. Of course the warranty from Trane (yes I would argue stopping a Trane is not as easy as they tout in the add) only covered the part. Labor for the initial quote was over $800, that was then corrected with "proper" pricing of $483 and an extension of a year on the maintenance plan. Note the whole job of replacing the motor took less than 20 minutes.
The technician replaced the motor, making comments with regard to rust on the motor. Note that the unit and all maintenance has been done by IA.
Now two weeks after the replacement motor installation I hear noise similar to that which was occurring with the initial motor. Though not as bad, still not desirable as 1 - this is a new unit and should not have these problems to begin with 2 - it was just replaced
I was subsequently informed that from my report, it "doesn't seem like something to be worried about" though this was all done over email and a cell phone video. At the price for the work that was done I would have liked to see some customer service in verifying that there is in fact not an issue and not simply dismissing.
Though I would say the pricing was on the higher side for the work, I do not have an issue with paying if the quality is there. Not sure that is the case...
Read moreIndoor air Technologies were called to give us a second opinion on our NO HEAT problem with our GEO Thermal Water Furnace E Series heater. We were told by the first company that came out, now this is the company that installed the unit and we have been using seen moving in 2009, that our compressor was bad and the price to replace the part with labor would be $3,500.00. After checking our past paper work, we discovered that the compressor along with the evaporator had been replaced exactly 7 years ago to the day! We decided to get a second opinion and are we super glad we did. The Indoor Air Technologies tech, Jerry, came in and started performing tests on our heater and within 10 minutes informed us that there was nothing wrong with our compressor but the capacitor that starts the compressor was bad and there was air in our unit. Jerry replaced the capacitor and put water in our system and it has been working fantastic! The cost, $431.00, a savings of $3,100.00, maybe more because the other company would have replaced the compressor, had the same problem and then told me that the bad compressor caused the capacitor to go bad. They would then have to replace that as well at an additional cost plus put water in the system to remove the air. Indoor Air Technologies came out and fiixed our no heat problem in 1 day after we had been waiting 14 days for a estimate from the other company and the entire time heating our home with the emergency electric heat! In short, Indoor Air Technologies were GREAT! I would recommend them to anyone that has a heating or...
