I arrived to begin a membership at the Beaver YMCA. Upon my first time arriving, I was offered a tour of the facility. A woman showed me around reluctantly. At the end of the tour, the woman turns and looks at me and says “and just so you know, we like to cover up here.” Insinuating that my outfit was inappropriate or something. I was not wearing anything promiscuous. I was wearing pants and a “shorter” top. One might also consider it to be a crop top. It was not offensive at all, I don’t even think my belly button was showing. We are talking minimal to NO skin showing on my midriff. It was also snowing and cold outside, so I was pretty covered up. I was taken back by her response and simply stated “okay”. I did not pitch a fight, just let it go. I also observed many other women in the facility wearing way less modest clothing than myself. I love this ymca but that interaction was not a great first impression of the Beaver YMCA. I will never forget how that woman treated me. I have been to numerous other YMCA’s in the area such as Butler, Cranberry, Grove City, and Natrona Heights, etc. I never had any sort of issues at those facilities because of what I chose to wear. I know that the YMCA has some sort of dress code but if they plan to heavily enforce it, then there should be a sign promoting the specific dress code they are...
Read moreI'm here several days a week to swim. I need the water to continue to exercise for to health. I'm disappointed that the facility isn't as clean as it used to be. Pool deck needs a good scrubbing. The hot tub walls appear dirty. People continuously are going straight from the sauna and steam room to the pools or hot tub without showering off between. (And yes, I've brought it to the attention of the front desk) I was surprised when I saw the new plans to change the facility. I was equally surprised they didn't freshen paint and deep clean the pools over COVID. I realize that staffing is an issue but the facility was closed for a period during the pandemic. I feel like it was a missed opportunity. Really hope they freshen everything up with the new...
Read moreThis facility meets all the needs of the community that are not met elsewhere. They have a pool, therapy pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna. The walking track is one of my favorite amenities much better then walking on a treadmill although they do have those as well. This facility offers two changing/locker rooms for women and men. While this establishment is not always the most cleanly there certainly are a lot of surfaces and areas to keep clean. They offer free classes as an incentive to come back if you haven't been attending the gym for awhile which is a great motivator to get back in the swing of things. The one adjustment that I believe could be made that would improve this facility would be longer operating hours...
