My husband and I had high hopes coming here. We wanted to love it and support a local business, but left feeling pretty disappointed.
I know it is a relatively new business and growing pains are to be expected. That being said, they have a lot of growth to do.
We came in at approx. 3:30 on a Saturday and it was packed, we were really surprised.
What struck us first was just how slow service was, especially the first point of service. It took FOREVER for someone to come over, welcome us, and ask for our drink order. So long, in fact, that my husband wanted to leave to go to Yolanda's. Eventually, when we did meet our server, service was a bit better, but still not very attentive.
The music was SO LOUD which, in turn, caused people to speak louder. If you want to enjoy your company and actually hear what they are saying, go elsewhere. We got the impression that even in the late afternoon, it was more of a honky-tonk than a family oriented restaurant.
My husband got the pot roast which was "ok" but was put off by the broccoli that had a black moldy substance on the end of one of the florets. I got the pasta primavera. The color of the noodles was off-putting. They looked to be unevenly cooked, perhaps microwaved? Despite the lackluster entrees, the appetizers we chose were pretty good.
One last thing, perhaps more establishments are doing this now, but there was a service fee to use a credit card. I think it was 3%. Not a big deal, but annoying.
Other than these items, the owner did a really nice job putting the place together. It is a great looking building inside and out. I can imagine, with the windows/doors open in the Spring/Summer, it will be a cool place to spend some time.
Hopefully, with time, improvements will be made and the food and service will match the quality of...
Read moreHORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE. We were here on July 4, 23 -our first time. We ordered burgers--very dry, no taste at all! The Jalapeño Popper burger had no flavor what so ever & we showed it to our waitress and she said it should have a sauce on it-which she could clearly see it didn't. I had ordered a backed potato instead of fries with mine-came out with fries-which after I said something to the girl she did bring one out. waited over 10-15 mins for drink refills-finally husband went to the bar himself to get it and ask for barbeque sauce-which NEVER did come. The waitress had the GM-Derrick come to us and right from the get go he had a HORRIBLE attitude. As I was trying to explain to him what had happened- he immediately got defensive and started attacking my husband and ordered us to leave or he would have security called on us. He was not representing this company in a positive way AT ALL! I asked for the owner's info so I could contact him and Derrick told me he wasn't important and that He himself was in charge. I did end up getting the info from another nice lady. My husband insisted & did pay for our HORRIBLE meal after he was told NO and to leave immediately. Before this all took place with Derrick we were willing to give it a 2nd try figuring it was just a bad day! Not now after being treated like criminals. People like Derrick ruin good establishments. DON'T EAT HERE, if you do, DON'T COMPLAIN if the food isn't good or you'll most likely get treated...
Read moreNew bar / restaurant in Bridgewater. We have only been there twice, and the first time was within a month of them opening. Both times, the food and atmosphere were great, and our group was able to sit by the fireplace inside(which is both interior and exterior accessable)on the couch, waiting for a table the first time. The food was excellent both times, and service was on point even with a group during the initial visit. I haven't been able to try the spaghetti stuffed meatballs yet, which have peeked my curiosity on both visits.
The place was built from the ground up to meet "The Standard," and you can tell someone took the time to plan it out. The back side of the building viewing the river has two large garage doors on both sides of the fireplace, which will open up to a patio with a railing made of thin wire to not hinder the view of the river.
I plan to have dinner out on the patio a few times this summer and enjoy that view. I think that the view and ambiance were part of "The Standard" when the people who built this place had their vision of what "The Standard" should be.
If you haven't been here yet and your local, you should give it a try. If you're just passing thru the area and have a chance, you should as well.
I do not know who owns this business and was not paid for...
