I used to LOVE the place but not anymore. I am leaving this review because my friends and family suggested it. I work in a field where customer service is the most important thing, smile and be helpful. You cant satisfy everyone but it is my job to try. Whoever hired the tall black guy as a manager there made a huge mistake. He knows nothing about customer service and ruined our day over 60 cents. The most rediculas thing to lose customers over and have the word spread out that people cant RELY on you. Yes, there are a lot of cheap things there but cheap means that sometimes you get something bad. If you get something bad, you should be able to replace it regardless. We were told to pay 60 cents extra, which is no big deal, because we used a coupon before. The issue was that we didnt have cash and card wouldve charged fees, meaning we would have to pay extra 3 buck to replace a 5 dollar item. Surely a manager would see how rediculas that is. Oh, he didnt NOT just see it, he showed attitude and acted rude. You NEVER talk to customers like that. Would a smile kill you? We werent rude, we didnt argue, we didnt make demends, we just wanted to replace what was being sold broken. So I ended up not even replacing it. We have never had these issues before. There was a different manager, and I appolagize for not knowing the name, but he was a shorter black man. He showed excellent costumer service skills, always smiled, was pollite and never acted like that. He did whatever he could tomake the issues get fixed. Ran into him so many times. He is the reason we were coming back. This other manager is the reason we dont want to and will continue warning our friends. The risk of buying something broken, and losing money because of that, is not worth it. I hope everyone has a wonderful day and be mindful that as a customer you deserve to be treated as a human being. If you dont get that treatment, go...
Read moreUpdate, After shopping there a bunch of times. I still love Ollie's for what it is. They might not always have what I need or want but they offer good deals on many items that I do find. The employees are ALWAYS nice. I drive out of my way to go there and still buy specific items like dry food only there, such as their dry herbs, spices and seasonings.
It was decent but not as great as I had hoped. A lot less options than the one in Mathews. Some of the prices were unreasonable regular prices. One of the bug sprays I bought was used. 8 grabbed 3 bottles quickly and didn't check them, so 1 ended up half empty with a worn out pint price sticker instead of red, new one. They placed a badly used or returned product back on the shelf without discounting it. I had to return the rake because it bloke the first time I tried using it. The metal came off the wood part. One of the solar lights I bought doesn't work and the plastic stick that you place in the ground broke as soon as I tried to push it into the soil. Their stuff is cheep. Don't expect good items for cheep. That's just a sales pitch. It's cheep quality items for cheep. But that's why I go, sometimes they have good products you just have to look for them. Everyone sells drying dish racks for $15-50 and I found a decent one there for $10. Some of their hygiene, food, car and tool items are decent and cost less. I get some tools there. I didn't see a huge small bathroom and living space cotton woven rug section in this one. That's why I used to go shopping to Ollie's for. Good quality, cheaper rugs. But. I didn't see them at this location. Sucks that I always have to go back and return stuff there. About 2-3% of my purchases usually have to be returned because they don't work...
Read moreHave never seen a retail outlet so determined to scre* over its customers... This is a retailer that bases its whole marketing strategy on low prices; yet it has used impossible to differentiate florescent colors on it price tags… I guess they don‘t actually want their customers to be able to read the prices once they come into their store… and back to scre*ing over its customers: I've never seen a retailer CUT so many corners… either diluted down, or powdered down, or DEvalued in some unimaginable way… And despite their OBVIOUS catering to the supposedly ignorant red neck culture, with repeated NASCAR promos, this store was like a ghost town the last time I was in there… guess those red necks are not so ignorant and easily manipulated after all… The only other ppl in there on my last visit were ‘like’ a couple NSA analysts that were just standing there staring at the shelves and talking on their coms… not creepy at all… And thanks for all the extreme speed bumps at this location… seriously?? Have never heard of anyone getting a good value at this place. At least they made good hiring decisions, since the ppl working there seem really nice – and not...
