This place is amazing, and my experience here was overwhelmingly positive. I want to mention that the pricing on the games was probably the fairest I have ever seen on used games, period. The employees mentioned that they price according to pricecharting, and I absolutely believe them. I brought some empty game cases to sell and they made me a very reasonable offer on something few places would even buy, other than an honest to goodness independent video game store.
I didn't end up selling to them, but the workers seemed absolutely honest about what they'd pay and my ability to sell them on my own for higher, but I wouldn't hesitate to bring them back in if I can't manage to sell on my own. I originally joked that since their prices are so good, it might not really be the best place to sell, but in hindsight I believe that was unfair considering what a place like vstock would likely offer.
I was absolutely incredulous to find out how cheaply they replace game batteries for ($5 compared to a $10-15 quote everywhere else I'd been to before). I wish I knew before I did it myself. They also sell obscure collecting supplies at amazing pricing. The only reason I think their stock of rare stuff might be lower is because it is priced so reasonably it probably moves right off the shelf.
The staff seemed incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely cared about the customer's best interest. They did caution me to resurface an otherwise $40-50 dollar game because the center was cracked, explaining the risks, but the game wasn't working anyway so I proceeded despite their genuine concerns. I do want to mention that it did fix the otherwise broken game!!!!!!!! Maybe don't be too cautious in the future ; ) since this tidbit proves it does work out sometimes, but I appreciated the concern.
It was a bit of a hike for me but returning when gas prices go down a bit seems well worth the trek to visit again. Thank you for all...
Read moreHad to update review due to some new rising issues in the store.
Number one is a huge price shoot compared to even online sites like eBay, when a copy of a ds game without case is almost over $100 and around $54 on online there’s a problem. Though that’s mostly only affecting high titles like Pokemon, so it’s a bit easier to look past.
However the second problem is some of the new workers that’s been there for a year or two. When it was just the owners it was a relaxed game store run by people who just enjoy gaming and gave other people a place to purchase classic titles and collectibles. Now however when you walk in there’s pressure to buy buy buy, one worker in particular is very infamous around town as being an extremely pushy salesman and condescending when you don’t buy their “recommended” product. It’s honestly made the thought of stopping by my once favorite game store, very draining and reminiscent of GameStop.
It’s still a great store run by some great guys, and if they’re the ones working you’re guaranteed a nice relaxed visit with some rare finds and great games.
If the owners read this my only advice would be either ditch the sales sharks or correct them on it. You’ve got a great store and honestly would hate to see it become another GameStop in terms of atmosphere...
Read moreVery clean and well ran store. Everything is well organized and they take pride in there stuff that comes in. retro systems and current systems are clean, I would trust anything I buy from there. They are also very knowledgeable about everything they sell and video game collecting. The owner is almost always there and has probably the best personal video game collection in the midwest. The only thing is their trade values are very low compared to other independent stores in the area. I am a collector and I am very OCD about my retro and current generation games. I also no the current pre owned market, and know they have to make a profit off what I am trading. I went in with some good current games and they only offered me $20 in store credit when another reputible independent store in the county over offered me $35 in store credit. I only had 4 games and $15 is a huge difference. It's not like they had a overstock of the games I was trading and I was only asking for store credit not cash. Plus 2 of the 4 games were sitting on the shelf at game stop used for $30 plus dollars. This has happened the past couple vistis there. Other than that I really enjoy going to this store but I will no longer...
