Grand Slam Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Rock Township

Grandslam is close to our home and we've eaten there many times. We decided to order it to go tonight. We placed a large order around 7:00 p.m. I went and picked it up around 7:30. I got home with the order and my daughter in law had ordered a pulled pork sandwich, it's her go to order from there. However it was extremely salty. Four of us tasted the meat and it was definitely too salty. We tried to call, but the phone system was not working properly. So I headed back up with the sandwich. They replaced it quickly, but I decided to taste it before leaving. It smelt burnt, like when something is left on the bottom of the pan too long. It once again was way too salty. Not only that, the whole sandwich was a mess, it looked like a bun set in a pile if meat. So I called my daughter in law and told her it wasn't good and she said to just get her a royal burger. After waiting quite a while for someone to acknowledge me, Becky did. I explained the situation and she went into the kitchen and requested the burger. As I waited I watched salads coming out and two large orders. After 40 minutes they finally brought out the burger at 8:35. We had placed the first order at 7:00 p.m. I feel like our complaint and order should have been resolved prior to filling the other orders. I was polite and tried to be understanding. Maybe the meat was accidentally double salted, I don't know. I do know it was not good, everything else in our order was good. Like I stated previously she's had the sandwich many times with no issues. I just felt completely ignored. So this review isn't about the food, but the service received when the food wasn't good. I was excited to have reservations because I heard numerous recommendations. But sadly my birthday dinner was ruined because of the worst service I've ever gotten. The group ordered the appetizer sampler to get started and beverages. After about ten minutes our drinks came. It was very busy so delay is understandable but 30 mins in and we finally get to order. Now in the 2 hours we were there only one of the six beverages was refilled 3 out of six orders didnt come with sides and after making a point to ask about them the were STILL NEVER brought out Once the group finished our food we had to find the waiter to get our check. He was asked to remove the items from the check that we never got, his reply ( if the appetizer sampler is ready do you still want it). To go, was the answer he was giving and an unrevised check was put on the table. After 5 mins my father went to the manager and had the issue resolved. Now I'm not a confrontational person and I try to be understanding because I've never worked in the restaurant biz. But the way this waiter smugly came back to the table and asked ( I heard there was an issue, what's going on) that's when I gave him a piece of my mind but my rating is also based on the fact that parking for the place was a nightmare and my Reuben sandwich was very dry. Tonight; Sept 12th 2024 around 645pm. It took someone a while to greet us, but once she did, she asked if my boyfriends son was with us. Nit sure if it was because his kid is half Hispanic but i also dont know many 13 year olds who go to eat at a bar by themselves. Once seated our server took about 15 minutes to come to the table and get our drink orders. When our drinks came they came without water. We had pretty simple order. 2 pizzas and the pork chops. More importantly it was my birthday and we were having a family dinner. Our fiod order took over an hour and after waitiing 45 minutes we were deciding whether to leave or not. Finally the server came out and blamed it on the kitchen. We take our food to go only to realize in the car it was all cold. Also my boyfriend asked for no mushrooms and to replace them with jalapeños and that did not happen. Also the pizza looked as if it were thrown around. This is by far the worst experience ive ever had to go through. On my birthday at that. As a server and bartender for over 18 years non of anything that happened tonight should be okay. We should have had our drinks or appetizers comped for the terrible service and quality...
