Ferrum College — Local services in Rocky Mount

I sometimes take a drive out here and walk on the campus. Its beautiful. A relative of mine is a graduate of Ferrum class of 2013.

This is a great school but I did want to say something. My relative and I visited back in 2015 and also in early 2016. We went to see some of my relatives old professors and the registrars office. One of my relatives professors acted as if they had no idea who my relative was. I asked them if they were joking around and they said to be honest, i cant remember who she is. it was just too big of a class.

Another old professor of hers claimed it had been too long and that they have forgotten many of their past students. Their memory was jarred when my relative showed them a photo of him and her together. That kind of hurt her. I don't mean any disrespect but thats pathetic. I think the professors should make a better effort to remember students, no matter how big the classes are.

My relative requested records from her time at Ferrum and they supplied incomplete records, also they claimed some of the records could not be found. I spoke to one of the deans on behalf of my relative, and found they had a lot of incomplete information. The dean also stated to me that some information apparently can get lost over time. Was there for the Folklife Festival. We haven't been in a long time and has no idea it would've changed so much. Most of the food was not community based church groups, fire depts etc, we especially missed the biscuit ladies. The events weren't stretched throughout the day like before, with everything being over by 1 pm. Worst of all was the handicap parking. It was a nice big level lot near an entrance gate and that's where the best of it ended. It was at the far, highest elevation of the event area of the campus so once we made our way all the way down to the homestead on the other side of Rt 40, there was no way a person with a rolling walker was able to go back uphill. The driver had to walk back, leaving the person with the walker alone on the side of 40 to be picked up. The parking should've been somewhere in the middle so the walking wouldn't have been so bad. My little sister went here under her married name. We called Ferrum back in November of 2016 looking for her records. We had the most terrible time getting ahold of...well... parts of them. Apparently, according to 2 registrars office employees, records can get lost over time, as mentioned by another reviewer. We only got parts of her records. Some of the records were even incomplete. This is a great college but they need to get more organized and take better care of students. I have never heard of anything so silly as providing someone with parts of records. They didn't have any records of her attending from 2011 all the way to 2012. A whole year of records.. LOST. If she didn't have proof of her...
