Fall Creek Rock Shop — Local services in Rolla

I lived out of state for years but always made sure I stopped at this shop whenever I was in the area. Now I’m back and lucky enough that they are only an hour away. The staff (James) has been extremely helpful and is also amazingly knowledgeable about the specimens for sale in the shop. He has gone out of his way, including staying a little after closing time to help us with our purchases. The variety of specimens in the shop is wonderfully surprising given the size of the shop. And their inventory is constantly changing so you always have a huge variety of minerals, etc to choose from. Prices are listed and most are completely affordable to the average visitor or collector. I had a disappointing experience at The Rock Shop in Rolla while searching for agate pieces. The attendant's lack of helpfulness was extremely disappointing. When I inquired about finding similar pieces to one I was interested in, the attendant dismissively responded, "If you don't see it, I doubt we have it." Despite expressing my specific needs for an interior design project multiple times, the lazy employee simply remained seated behind the desk, offering no assistance whatsoever. I cannot recommend this place due to the poor service I received. It's unfortunate because Rolla lacks other options like it. Came for small polished stones and got what I wanted for great deal. Temu and Amazon WAY overpriced for my find here. Very pleased. Bucket full of gem stones. Get a bag and fill it full. Some items bit higher in price than expected. But if you are a gem/stone collector, don't let the outside of the building stop you from visiting and getting a good find.
