Wow! Great store, nice selection but I was a bit taken aback when asked for my driver’s license when checking out and paying with card. However, I can appreciate the sentiment so I complied. The real issue came when I saw her starting to try to write down my license number! I immediately took my license back and she accused me of being hostile so I told her I did not appreciate having my privacy violated. I love supporting small businesses, but her store won’t last long if she continues this practice. I spoke with a detective in Rome afterwards to discuss this unethical practice, and he said that he agreed with my decision to avoid taking part in this invasive practice. As a collector of jewelry, I can say this is a decent antique shop with good selection! The reason for the low review however is that the lady working there was extremely standoffish the entire time I was in the store. I don't expect to be left alone as I understand that theft is a big concern in the industry, but she even called a stall owner after I left the stall to ensure that I hadn't taken anything.
