Food Lion — Local services in Rome

Food Lion is a mess. It is looking a bit run-down and old and the cashiers could use a lesson in how to pay attention to the customer in front of them and not the customer who is their friend two aisles away.

The last time I was in there the cashier was having a very animated talk with her another Food Lion employee who was standing at the end of my bagging area and when I tried to get my cashiers attention to tell her I was splitting my purchase into separate orders, one for my neighbor and one for myself, she became very rude and told me "Just a minute" and returned to talking to her friend. I tried again to tell her and she just glanced my way and blatantly ignored me.

She kept ringing up everything and it came out to over $200. I kept telling her I wanted it split, she kept ignoring me and talking to her friend, and finally, at the end she all of a sudden heard me say I wanted the order split. She rudely said that I could have told her earlier and that it was her break time and there was too much for her to re-ring. She closed her register up after voiding my purchase and just walked away.

I stood there in shock as she walked away.

I went to find the manager, but it seems the manager or assistant manager or whoever it was that was in charge was also on break. I assume this so-called manager was the person my cashier was talking with because they both disappeared at the same time.

That was a year ago. Needless to say, I have not been back to...

This is an update on this store. I was a nurse over 20 years in this town but since I had became disabled to know nine and I am raising my grandson on just my disability check things get tough that being said I have Humana and get the healthy benefits card when I tried to use it in food Lion the lady was arguing with me on how it worked when she saw that I was right she was not happy I had to use My food stamp card to pay the balance and $0.39 on yet another card for what the cashier said was tax. I didn't think you paid taxes with food stamps however I have never been treated so bad looked down to and disrespected as I was this evening. My grandson even commented when we left the store that that lady sure was hateful and that I should report her well I did I called the number and reported her but after almost a week I still have not heard anything. Absolutely the worst service I have ever received. I recently moved to the are and I'm a big believer in supporting locally owned businesses, but now I'm driving all the way out to Coosa to shop at GMC. It is worth the drive. In 20 years of shopping at GMC, I have never had a single bad experience. I had hoped to have a similar relationship with Food Lion once I moved, but I'll never step foot in there again. The cashier's at Walmart are so much nicer than Food Lion's. I'll stick with GMC and Walmart for now own. This terrible little grocery store does not take care of it's local...
