My husband and I visit the Merrillville store quite often and spend quite a bit of money each year. Unfortunately, our experiences lately have been quite tainted by the manager, Kelly. We visited the store NYD and took advantage of the 1/2 off sale spending around $300. One of the employees, Skylar, was a total doll, helping us find items of interest and explaining the products to us. However, the manager, Kelly, was visibly irritated and cranky. She was rolling her eyes when Skylar was making suggestions about shoes and outfits I was interested in. She gave us all a look of death when Skylar told us her name, and Skylar even admitted she shouldn't have done that. It's a retail store not a strip club for goodness sake. If providing your name is against the rules, give yourselves fake names like strippers do. Ridiculous. So, a friend bought me a corset as a birthday gift from LL and after wearing it for about 2 hours, the fabric began to tear away from the zipper, obviously embarrassing me at my event. I realize I didn't have the tag or receipt but figured it was worth a trip to inquire about options for a clearly defective product. The manager Kelly again stepped up and said nothing can be done and sales are final. She suggested I contact the manufacturer...which I did. The manufacturer said they do not deal directly with consumers. The store at which the item was purchased would have to contact them for a replacement or refund. So Kelly either doesn't understand the relationship she has with her vendor or she just wanted to get rid of me. Neither is acceptable as a store manager. Lovers Lane should stand behind their products and do what it takes to make their customers happy, especially good, repeat customers like us. Her treatment of Skylar, a rock star employee IMO, was completely unprofessional and out of line. On a side note, a few months ago, I slipped and fell on ice right outside the stoop during cold weather. Bloodied up my knee which has since scarred. I mentioned to Kelly that they really should put more ice out during freezing temps to avoid future falls and possible litigation, but she again passed the buck and said that was her landlord's responsibility, not hers. Real quality management material here. Please let me know when she is no longer working there so we can revisit the store. We will be taking our business elsewhere...
Read moreWe went in to purchase our first toy, being that I have never bought anything like this I was unaware of prices and didn't really have alot of knowledge on the items. But I looked around and asked some questions. As the associate was showing us around she kept pointing at the items that were over $50, and because it was my first purchase I wanted to go cheap to see if I would even like it. So I settled for a $20 product. The associate kept saying "oh this brand is no good, alot of people say it breaks really fast", thinking to myself, well then why would you sell such a product. So she went again and kept showing us all the expensive items and how they are better and are going to last longer. I understand all that but after she had been so pushy about it, I kind of got overwhelmed with everything and decided to leave without purchasing anything. I felt that if she had just let me be and buy my $20 item she would have made a sale, but instead she ended up losing a sale. I dont know if these associates are commissioned, but sometimes you just need to let the customer choose...
Read moreBeautiful store! Beautiful products! Lovely staff, however the manager Kelly come off kind of rude and insensitive! The girl that was helping me (I unfortunately forgot her name!!) was very sweet, and I asked her a question that she didn’t 100% know the answer to so she went up to her manager Kelly and asked her (which I actually respected!) and when Kelly responded she instantly had an attitude and seemed irritated at her employee and told her “she should know that!” And then proceeded to answer her question! In my opinion that is completely unexplainable!!!! I felt so bad for that girl! I made sure to tell her before I left what a great help she was and that I appreciate...
