Visiting from out of state and running out of cheesy alien exhibits, we decided to stop in for a movie. First, I'm taking into consideration that this is a small town. Which usually means you don't have the best selection of theaters. And this particular theater isn't horrible. It's actually fairly clean and well kept. And the prices are somewhat less than other theaters. But it going downhill from there.
Popcorn, sodas, and candy are still not cheap by any means. And everything is basically self-serve. Popcorn is dispensed from a huge glass box. Get your own butter. The popcorn was burned and stale.
Fountain drinks were as expected. It's soda.
The theater we were in did at least have updated and comfortable leather seating, which reclined. In the reclined position they were all loose. And felt as though you were rocking in the chair. For some reason there is even a USB port in each seat. So you can keep your phone charged and make sure you don't miss a call or text during the movie. Clearly, sarcasm, but it's there, nonetheless.
The theater was also poorly designed. Period. It's very narrow and long. There is a crazy amount of space between each row. Wasted space. Which further accentuates the fact that if in any other than the front two rows, feels as though you're super far from the smallish screen. Light protrudes from the entryway. The lights were not dimmed enough during the movie. Proving to be quite distracting for anybody in the back rows.
Fortunately we were able to move down a few rows to avoid what would have been an unbearable annoyance from the lights and tiny screen. Small screen combined with long narrow theater is not a good combo.
Audio also wasn't great. Sounds like they were overdriving low-range PA speakers. Very bright and harsh sound from the horns. Surround effect was descent. There was some bass to be had; not bad there.
Once again, I do get the small town theater expectations. But in the future, I'd just wait until we were in a better theater with a proper movie-going experience. Keeping in mind the reason why folks spend money on a movie in the first place is...
Read moreWorst service ever. Employees & General Manager Joshua were mean, rude, & disrespectful to these young students that are working hard going to school and after a hard day of school exams they are just wanting come to relax and appreciate their time off. But they cannot even do that. Employees & Management did not allow her to take her backpack in nor do they allow her to eat her food. And I understand that there is policies. But when trying to speak to them about the situation trying to be understanding & I even tried to buy her something there to eat but when I spoke with general manager, he was not caring or sympathetic. He was not willing to work with me for my daughter. He was mean rude unprofessional & I told him this wasn’t OK. I told him we will no longer be coming here again if this is the way they are going to be treating our children. And in his response He said That’s Fine. Turned around and walked away talking under he’s breath. With nothing resolved. Wow just wow, so I thought I’d let y’all know this is how they are treating our children in this community at this movie theater & it’s unacceptable. I could only imagine how they treat our children when a parent is not there. We do not recommend this movie theater nor will me or my family be coming back over here. I want me & my children happy. They do need to work on their...
Read moreWe’re on vacation in Roswell and decided to see a movie our one night in town. We bought our tickets online, as is common practice with most modern theaters. When we arrived, we were told it would take 20 minutes for us to get a hot dog, and by that time our movie would have started, so we declined. All but one of the Coke dispensers was out of order. The auditorium was very shallow, so the heads of the people in front of you blocked the screen, which itself was pretty small. Sound and picture quality was average. The restrooms were clean but falling apart. The sink faucet literally popped out of the counter when I went to wash my hands, and the latch of the first stall I tried didn’t lock.
Three-quarters of the way through our movie, the screen went dark. We had to walk out to the front desk to let them know, and they discovered their projector had gone down. Everyone was offered a pass to come back and get free seats at any Apex location if they wanted. Because we’re from out of town, we asked to have a refund instead. We had no intention of returning to this location and other Apex locations are nowhere nearby. But because we preordered our tickets online, we were not allowed a refund. The staff was apologetic, but the policy and poor upkeep of the establishment...
