Plum Island — Local services in Rowley

Has the best little island vibes. It's been a while since I've been here. I use to go to out to sandy point, a LOT, alone! & before parking became such a hassle w/ fighting over spots & and badetiquette, I do not recommend women going there alone. It's a large secluded beach & at times, it seems like you're the only one there or others are off in the distance. Especially if you stay past 5pm. So maybe around 2008/07? A birding mecca for all in the area, Plum Island is home to the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. We could call it a second home too many of us. Raptors soaring through the air and along the marshes such as Short-eared Owls Northern Harriers and Bald Eagles just to name a few can be seen throughout the day though the Shorties typically come out late afternoon. A lot of the beach was closed for the birds but if you go all the way down to Sandy Point it's all beautiful beach from soft sand to rocky tidal pool areas and it's fun to stop along the length of the island at all of the little trails and towers to see the views and the wild difference in vegetation from one spot to the next.
