Arrived on a Sunday, Lagoon was closed for unspecified repairs. No email in advance of our trip to tell us Lagoon was closed. No one knew what the problem was or when it would be fixed. After multiple trips to the Welcome Office (who knew nothing), on Tuesday, we got the name of someone at Red Rock Mgt. who said they would try to get us information by 5pm on Tuesday. We learned the Lagoon would be closed for our entire trip. They offered about a 15%-20% discount or said we could check out early and get reimbursed for unused days.
While waiting to find out when the lagoon would be open, every morning the grand kids asked us, “When will the lagoon be open?” Very disappointed kids. Packing back up and returning home after 2 days to get a fair refund wasn’t workable. Dads and moms had taken the week off. Grandkids would have been really bummed out had we bailed after 2 days.
We paid a ton for a house right on the lagoon for 24 people and got a great house but no lagoon. We didn’t want money back. We wanted the experience we paid for.
Apparently, the lagoon has been closed on a number of occasions for maintenance problems. One maintenance guy working at the lagoon told us nobody on staff has the experience and training to keep the lagoon filtration system functioning properly.
Super disappointed! Rent these homes at your own risk because the HOA which oversees the lagoon and maintains it doesn’t know how to manage the lagoon and are unavailable when things break. No one on site can do anything. You get punted back to Ember Stays on Red Rock whose employees have are sympathetic to your problem, but have no idea about the status of repairs and no ability to fix the lagoon or even get status updates. They are just rental agents.
They sell a nice concept but didn’t come close on delivering it for our family.

Read moreEXTREMELY DISSATISFIED with the service at the lagoon. We came to enjoy the evening and rent some paddle boards. When we approached the rental desk and believe her name was Chelsea who we dealt with she was just walking off to go straighten up chairs.. obviously seen us standing at the desk for help but continued to slowly mosey her way around the lagoon taking 25+ minutes. We continued to stand as the kids really wanted to paddle board… a large group approached the desk behind us as we stand waiting. And they start pulling the paddle boards out into the water and swimming away with them. We brushed off the fact that we were rudely cut in line.. as Chelsea finally returns to the desk we asked kindly to rent 3 paddle boards. And she tells us she can not rent them to us at 6:45 because it is to close to dark and they don’t let anyone take them out this late.. the woman who’s group behind us then steps up to the desk to pay for the 6+ boards they just pulled into the water. She was kindly greeted and allowed to pay for the boards as we were pushed away… I then asked why that it’s fair that the group who came in way after we were standing in line could rent the boards but we could not she later then tells us to Come back and we could take some. So we get back up to pay she rolls her eyes she then proceeds to tell us sorry I’m busy.. THIS IS NOT OKAY… and this was the turning point of me deciding not to rent them at all.. I will not support and give my hard earned money to anyone all the other kids got to go out into the lagoon and play on the boards as ours stood there sad because they were told it wasn’t allowed… as a resident who pays for these Amenities this makes me never want to give you $ to rent again here … please address this. And hope it doesn’t happen to the next group of...
Read moreVisited some family who had just moved into Desert Color and stayed for a few days. While I won't be buying here myself, I can give a neutral assessment on the community. The variety of builders in Desert Color offers an expanded range of price points and housing styles compared with most planned neighborhoods from the condos in the $300's all the way up to multi-million dollar properties and everything in between. However, I noticed that the lots are on the small side considering the square footage of the homes. The Lagoon (huge!!) and pool area was impressive and surely a big selling point but I can only imagine how crowded it will get when the neighborhood is built out and shared with hundreds more residents. The lagoon is not heated either and was cold even on a 100 degree day. A restaurant/eatery and a small convenience store would make a quality addition to this central gathering point of Desert Color, which still feels like it's missing something. Cell phone service was unreliable and I'm on a major network carrier- guessing the local infrastructure still needs upgrading. The other negative that was glaringly obvious to me is that there is almost no retail within a 10-15 minute drive of this community, so you're going to spend a lot of time in the car if you live here. It may take a decade for good quality amenities to catch up with the growth on the south end of Saint George so that would definitely be something to keep in mind unless you're planning to live here...
