Rolling Hills Apartments — Local services in Saint Paul

The place is absolutely disgusting. They trick you into moving there by saying they’re not offering showings due to Covid. On my lease signing day, the landlord pushed my appointment back by an hour and notified me by email instead of calling me 15 minutes before our meeting time and then she STILL showed up 10 minutes late. Upon first look, the apartment looks decent. The hallways and stairwells are dingy and constantly filled with trash. The apartment was NOT clean when I moved in. The kitchen cabinets had roach droppings and food stained shelves and food caked in the hinges. The fridge didn’t work properly and I lost all my groceries I bought within the first week I moved in. There were multiple holes in the wall where mice can get in. There was mice LIVING IN MY STOVE/OVEN. I noticed a weird smell the first time I used my oven and wrote it off as the smell of burnt oven cleaner but I seen multiple mice come out from my stove area and signs of nesting down below. One night I came out to a mouse on top of my stove and it ran down into one of the burners. I even found a dead mouse in my kids laundry hamper. There’s roaches and even though they do “pest control”, I continued to see tiny baby roaches which means there was some type of nests deep in the wall which were not being treated. They came in ONE time to put roach repellent (or whatever) in the cabinets. As if all that isn’t bad enough, there was an incident where someone got shot in our parking lot and me and my children had to step over a pool of blood to get into the building. Mice and roaches everywhere no matter how clean you try keeping your apartment it’s just still going to be here.. I’m literally about to have a baby next month!! Also my fridge is always going warm out of nowhere. I’m always hearing banging noises as well. The hallways ends up smelling like a dirty mess laundry room is so just messed up i it isn’t the reason why I’m always itchy after washing my clothes. It is literally mice starting to come in my trash like how I keep my trash clean and took out everyday!! Back to the fridge why is my fridge always warm? My meats could never stay cold or my ice creams that my kid loves to enjoy during this hot summer!! They give you payments more than anything and barely come fix or maintain their own building but will put blame on you for how it’s looking but when I moved in here my stove already looked old and she says to clean my oven lol. My oven numbers was scratched off first of all once you assigned me this apt so also keep that in mind!! My socket brackets are always going out In my kitchen 🤦🏽‍♀️for 1229 monthly rent that you guys like to charge I’m sorry I really don’t think it’s worth that much if we want to be serious like are you guys okay? But I hope you guys do something about this you have way too many reviews about bugs mice etc but choose to still do...

Please reconsider before booking a showing or leasing with Rolling Hills. If I could I would have given them zero stars.

When I went for my showing, I told Rolling Hills that I had no renting history or knowledge and they took complete advantage of me. I was given no confirmation for my deposit and no contract. When I did ask Vicky, the manager for a deposit conformation, she became completely offended and kicked me out of her office and told me "we don't do that here". When I decide to look for a different apartment, I asked Rolling Hills for my deposit back, I was told that I can only get it back if I still have my contract which was never given to me in the first place.

Vicky, the manager is completely unprofessional and rude.

I was completely taken advantage of and lost my deposit money.

Please reconsider leasing with Rolling Hills or be extremely cautious.
