Proline Range Hoods — Local services in Salt Lake City

If you want a truly restaurant grade range hood, ProLine is pretty much the only one out there designed for domestic applications. After shopping the local home improvement stores and coming away unimpressed with their offerings, I tried searching the web, which is how I discovered ProLine, a company I had never heard of. But I have to tell you, their products are something else! A true hidden gem of a company! Nothing like the stuff you will see in the stores - they are true commercial grade! I guess what said "commercial grade" the loudest were the stainless steel lifetime grease filters, something you will NEVER see in local stores and exactly the kind you will see in restaurant hoods - simple to maintain, work great, and look "the business"! The blower capacity was the next hot button for me. I got the 5" high by 30" wide model (which is exactly what I was looking for to maximize the cabinet space above the range) which has an air movement rating of 650 cfm on the high setting! Which, for the price, is a crazy level of air movement! You won't even FIND this sort of capacity in the stores. And speaking of price, nothing else on the market that I could find came even close to the performance/features/dollar value proposition of the ProLine. You can see all their models and ratings on their web site, but what you won't see is the packaging the unit comes in. It was as impressive as the contents, appearing to be virtually bullet proof. Needless to say, the unit arrived in perfect condition within a few days of placing the order and was indeed quite an impressive piece of equipment - buying things on line is sometimes a pig in a poke - normally I prefer to see and feel what I'm buying before I plunk down my hard earned cash, but the ProLine did not disappoint! Beautiful to look at - sleek and modern, and the blue button lights match my range and fridge displays - a cool added bonus! It's a pleasure to operate as well, with a row of five durable-feeling click buttons controlling the four speeds (with a handy time-out function) and the twin LED work lights - only one level of brightness, but I haven't missed being able to dim them. Not an issue for me. I know noise level is important to a lot of people, and I can't complain there either. On low, it's not "silent" but not objectionable and has a very nice, quality "white noise" sound that isn't at all annoying. On high, well, it could suck a moose in the window, so when you need it, it's there - like when running the clean cycle on your range without killing the canary. Durability? I have had my unit for almost two years now, and it runs mostly all day every day, and so far still as new. ((I'm retired and therefore home all day most days, and I smoke a pipe, which I puff on many times during the day (by the hood of course!), so I just leave the hood running on low to keep the house from getting that "smoked in" smell, which it accomplishes perfectly - on low.)) Before making a purchase for my 42" Proline Range Hoods PLJW 129.42 on 9/29/2022, I have researched the product and found many good reviews. However, my experience wasn't as happy as other reviewer! The initial sale inquiry was great but after the purchased the experience go down from there... The product was professionally looking and I was happy with it at first until I have it installed. That's when I found out all sort of problem and cost me a lot of money to install. The size of the extended hood I received wasn't what I ordered but I accepted it because it's still work for my ceiling height (lucky me). It's supposed to be quiet or at least that was my impression when I read the sale material and the review but it was loud. I call in and they want me to take picture and video so they can analyze the problem. I finally figure out where the problem was (the transition piece) and told them so they send me a different one (10" instead of the original 6"/8"). They said it was the wrong part. So, now the noise is a little more tolerable but still not as quiet as I expected. The Range filter wasn't fit properly. It was too tight to put it in and it's scratching the range as you try to remove it. I call in again and they said it will loose it up in time. Really? I almost cut my finger from removing it and this is the answer/resolution I got from the company. Range filter wasn't align properly. The middle filter was higher which make it look uneven and I took picture to show the company that the hole in front was cut incorrectly. So, their resolution was to bend the filter tab to make it fit. If you bend it enough to line up it will fall off. So I left it as it. Again, really? At first, the support lady told me that she is waiting to talk to the company owner to see if they can provide me some kind of discount for all the issues (design flaw) and send me a new set of filters but they back track and said #3 and #4 doesn't consider as defective product so there is nothing they can do. I generally give the company opportunity to correct their mistake before I filed a complaint with BBB but this company doesn't care about customer satisfaction! I believed it is a design flaw and they don't want to admit it. That's why sending a replacement will not solve the issue! Anyone want to buy a profile range hood beware their warranty service mean nothing! with my experience so far, I will not recommend this product and...

I think the product would have been great, but the customer service after receiving a damaged product MORE than crushed any potential positives. The item was delivered in a very timely fashion, which was a nice surprise considering the supply chain issues in place at the time. Finding an installer was difficult, and by the time he opened it up for installation, and finding it damaged, and me contacting Proline about the damage, it was the day after the 14 day window that they say one needs to file a damage report...one day. The representative was correct in that their website includes a link that very clearly states the 14 day window, but I would never have looked at that link without her telling me which one...I looked at the warranty one, but why would I look at the return link before receiving, opening and deciding if I wanted to return it or not? I guess I will from now on as Proline has set the new standard. The icing on the cake is that the box was significantly damaged but hidden by an undamaged PROLINE sticker...the supervisor, having actually called me while I was typing this review said that it must have been damaged by FEDEX? How is that possible if the Proline sticker is undamaged...creased but undamaged...but the box behind it is damaged and the sheet metal bent on the product...sure looks like someone intentionally put the sticker on in order to hide the damage. Didn't anticipate needing to look for damage inside what appeared to be an undamaged box. All in all, I will NEVER deal with Proline again, and I seriously hope no one else does. If I could rate them less than one, I would. I certainly have to take responsibility for not opening the "undamaged" box and not inspecting the Proline item for damage that must have occurred at the factory and then was hidden by a large sticker, but I suppose that is where we are these...
