OCD Reefs — Local services in Salt Lake City

I really want to give a five star review... I really do. However, both times I've been here, I've not been acknowledged by the staff for FAR longer than I'd expect. The first time, I spent ten minutes in the store before someone Said hello. The second time, the employee was busy talking to a regular/friend about car parts for an extended period before I even received an "I'll be with you soon.". It was super frustrating as I only had a few minutes to stop by. As for the store itself, the prices are a bit high compared to the limited selection of other stores in the valley. However, they have a good selection of fish and corals and you will find things you want and some things you didn't know you needed. I don't mind paying a little extra for good service and selection. Beautiful, clean, and healthy tanks with knowledgeable staff and good prices on a huge range of saltwater fish and corals. Both looked healthy, with the fish being lively and

The range was breathtaking, and the owner was confident in his ability to source an even wider range. He said he also has the ability to serve as a state-side transhipper if you find something truely rare you are willing to take a risk on and import.

While most of the tanks were utilitarian to display the fish and corals clearly, there are several tanks throughout the store that showcase the owner's skill in design and beautifully balance space, color and light.

The owner was also able to offer some advice on caring for my freshwater tanks as he does service and maintain some delicate freshwater tanks even though he does not currently stock freshwater fish...

Every time I visit here they are very knowledgeable, patient, and helpful.

The lady there takes the time to get to know her customers current set up and will work with you to get your tank running the way you want without high pressure sales and offers helpful suggestions based on your needs and budget. Other employees seem to have had positive helpful attitude aswell.

They have always been well stocked with a wide variety of equipment, supplies, coral, fish and more. From where I've visited over past couple years they seem to have the best selection of high quality saltwater stuff in salt lake area.

Fish and frag tanks have been neat and clean. Unlike many other stores, they don't leave me worrying my purchase is gonna cause an algae or sickness outbreak at home . Probably best reef shop...
