Jay Torres, founder of Latizmo Hip Hop Productions, is a gifted teacher, artist, and choreographer - his hip hop classes embody values of inclusivity, expression, and community. Jay's Latizmo hip hop classes unlocked my 4-year-old son Eli's passion for dancing/performing, and for this, my family will be forever grateful. Eli's face lights up whenever we mention hip hop classes with "Mr. Jay." What impresses us is not just the complex choreography that Jay is able to teach young toddlers to prepare them for top-notch performances, but also the life values that will continue to serve these young children well beyond their time in their dance classes. Jay does this through incorporating strong life values into the dance curriculum. We often hear Eli chanting the mantras he learned in hip hop class (such as "Passion, Patience, Perseverance") even in situations unrelated to dancing. Jay is able to relate with his students in a way that truly engages them. It is obvious to see that Eli's entire dance class absolutely adores Mr. Jay as they laugh, dance, and play with him. I observed one child starting to cry when she had to go home after an event, which gives us a glimpse of the close bonds that Jay has with his students. Jay really cares. Latizmo Hip Hop Productions has been such a wonderful experience for my daughter. Jay’s all-inclusive dance classes have provided her with such a multifaceted experience. She has enjoyed the social aspects of being around other students while learning the art of hip-hop in an environment that is respectful as well as expectant of all students to perform at their best while having a great deal of fun. And there is the added benefit of giving back to the community when Latizmo Hip Hop Productions performs at various venues. She has thoroughly enjoyed her first year with her Latizmo family. Mrs Jay is the best dance teacher I've experienced she changed my life alot. And I FEEL I came out of my shell more because of her. My sister is autistic and I've never seen her so happy, she loves to dance so much. When Mrs jay or my sister dance it encourages me to keep dancing and to never give up, even when people are down she brightens the mood for anyone and encourages them.
