Finding this place is part of the fun. It's not really difficult if you follow the directions given in the other posts. There is only room for about 3 cars to park at the roadside historical marker and it is located just after a curve. If you miss it the first time you have to go a mile or so before you can turn around. When you see the sign about a historical marker ahead slow down a lot. You won't see the sign until you are on top of it. It is immediately after the right guard rail ends.

The abandoned road that leads to the falls made for an easy hike. After visiting the falls I continued up the road for quite a ways. There are trails that branch lower to Barlow Road. About another half mile beyond the turnoff for the falls is the old Barlow Road Wagon Trail marked with some new looking signs.

As others have said, the path from the old road to the falls is not marked. There is a ravine on the right as you are walking up the road. You will hear the water before you come to the foot path. It is the only path down that I saw. It is very steep but there are a few trees along the way for grip. It is beautiful down there and...

Best of the smaller falls in the Mt Hood area. Difficult down hill trail, if that word can be used to describe it. No marked trail but start at the historical marker before you reach the mirror lake Trailhead. Only parking for one or two cars. Head up the stairs path and rake a right at the old overgrown road. Head about a half mile and there is a semblance of a path on the right side of the road heading pretty much straight down. You should be able to hear the falls from the roadside.

Dangerous footing here so be very careful!! Not recommended for anyone who is not able to climb/scramble up and down a steep hillside.

Very private and secluded area...

What can I say....enjoy the mountain! If y'all have small children this might not be the best spot to try an get them down to....the unmarked REALLY STEEP trail is not small kid friendly....but walking on the old Hwy above the area around the falls is very neat and secluded....just love old Hood history...this road used to be THE HWY!....Look for the yellow strips in the middle of the road!....And straight across the new hwy is ZigZag falls....were this old...

DO NOT ATTEMPT if you are not a hiker/climber or in poor physical health. Many others have provided some great suggestions on identifying where you might find the "trail" down. It is very steep both down and up. Good footwear will help. It is quite invigorating once you get down and get back up.
