Never in my life have I felt more disrespected and uncomfortable at a gym. It's already extremely difficult to be a woman that lifts weights, but to have to deal with harassment each time I go in has been and incredibly outstanding experience. I understand I may not be their target audience, I've seen a lot of gym goers who enjoy working with the trainers and getting their cardio in and if that's all you're looking for you should enjoy the gym. The facility is nice. The prior manager seems to have passed down this "noise intolerance" mindset to the new female manager, and to be quite honest it seems he is no longer around the gym, most likely due to interrupting lifters workouts and having complaints against him. My whole point is to say I've never been disrespectful to other people at the gym. I don't hog equipment, I clean up after myself by sanitizing and putting equipment away. But for her to throw in my face that because a 5 foot tall woman should be able to set down 280 pounds of weight quietly because she saw a man put down 600 pounds quietly is honestly one of the most dumbfounding things they dont even have that many plates! Not to mention that's the first time i was able to rep out that weight after being injured i was so happy. She spent the entire time i was working out being sherlock Holmes trying to find my profile so that she could cancel my membership. Thank god for the Fayetteville location that is veteran owned and operated, where the GM is incredibly sweet and works out with you for fun. I'll be telling her about what happened tomorrow and hope to file a complaint to corporate. It's almost a blessing because I felt like I was walking on pins and needles every time I went in. At Fayetteville they have turf that you can do deadlifts on that dampen any sound. It wouldn't even matter because they don't understand why the Sanford location is so uptight about noise. Never once have I sensed I was making another person uncomfortable. The manager would not give me her name, she would not accommodate me and provide the owners name and number. But it's okay. What goes around comes around and it's a Learning experience for everyone involved. She interrupted me 3 times, first about my deadlift, second to find out my name, and I couldn't even finish my workout because she came up a third time to let me know shehad canceled my membership.
Tl; dr if you lift weights this is not the gym for you. Lisa Brobst Is...
Read moreI believe I've just passed a year since becoming a member Anytime Fitness. In that time, I've seen more growth for this business than I thought reasonable for a smaller city like Sanford. This speaks volumes about not only the facility itself and what it can offer you, but the staff itself. I don't know how they are able to keep up with so many members but it feels like they know each and every one of us individually, which I think is pretty impressive.
The Sanford facility is always crazy clean (especially when you consider how much people are working out inside) and they always seem to be looking to improve, whether it be by partnering with local businesses for special offers or adding new equipment; at this point, I'm not sure that there's much that this place doesn't offer.
Other than being open literally any time of the day (with that one exception where they closed for a few hours to deep-clean the floors of the whole facility, which was well worth it), an added benefit to Anytime compared to any other local gym is that I'm able to use any other Anytime facility worldwide without any additional cost. I've literally traveled half way across the world and somehow ended up within a stone's throw (~1.5mi) of another Anytime facility in Australia. The only time I was ever disappointed was while traveling recently to Champaign, IL...because one of the newest locations, less than a half mile from where I was staying, wasn't opening until the end of the month (after I would be gone).
Anytime Fitness of Sanford has become a key component for me in my fitness journey and I hope to be a member here for...
Read moreI don’t think I have ever written a negative review for anyone, but I am at my wits end. My husband was working out with a friend here last January, when a trainer approached them and offered a “6 month special”. He decided to sign up but after a month we had a job hours change and he was unable to carve out the time to go to the gym anymore. That March 2022, he called to see if their was anything he could do. They said he could not and needed to honor the contract. So at that 6 months we called again and they told us it was a 12 month contract and they had no 6 month contract ever before. This was obviously frustrating and we felt very lied to. But after a few more attempts to talk to managers there seemed like nothing we could do. In January we called again, the manager Molly said that it was too far into the month for us to stop the contract and we also owned a 40.00 buy out fee. I said I do not want to pay anymore and I needed her to find another option for us. She promised to call back. We were at the time traveling for a close family death and I didn’t realize she didn’t call back.
Today I found another 20 dollar charge. That is our 14th payment we have made to them. I tried to call again, the calling center person said that she could not help me and she would contact Molly to give me a call back.
At this point I’m so frustrated and angry, maybe a bad review will get someone to start paying attention at the horrid customer service and overall...
