March 2023 Update - I tried to give this college the benefit of the doubt and enroll myself since it's local. They are just awful all around from the registrar to the advisor to the instructors. They lack professionalism and enjoying using their authority. Before enrolling in classes, I needed to make sure some classes transferred because they were listed as not completed and I'd have to take them again. When reaching out to Mrs. Thomas, the Associate Registrar that does all of the transcript evaluations, she didn't want to help whatsoever. She acted like she was so busy, yet had no problem answering my advisor and told him that what my progress shows in self-service stands. She had absolutely no plans to look back at my transcripts to see that she missed courses. She wouldn't return my phone call or email about it and has still yet to. Yet, I had absolutely no problem with SCC transferring the classes, plus they have been so kind and professional so far, something CCCC definitely lacks. So please, high school graduates, people looking to get their GED or just continue their education, look elsewhere if at all possible because this college truly doesn't care about you, it's all about numbers and funds for them. September 2021 - My husband's first fall term at CCCC since moving to the area in March 2021 was absolutely awful. Employees, facility, and staff definitely need a refresher course on professionalism on the job. You can't just approach students unprofessionally and expect them not to reply back. CCCC's incident reporting is terrible as well. If you report anything, be prepared, they will turn it around on you being the problem and put you on probation, then continue to single you out until you decide enough is enough. Review the student handbook, request a hearing,...
Read moreWent to the Sanford Nc campus for salon services. Just needed a highlight and lowlight root touch up. By the time the student (who was about to graduate) finished applying the chemicals, the rest of my hair had sat for almost 5 hours with the chemicals on it. As she was processing my hair, I hear her call for the instructor and whisper : "Her blonde isn't taking right." To which the instructor told her to apply a Shampoo Cap to make it blend. Neither the student, not the instructor ever actually spoke to me about what was going on with the color or what my options were for it not taking the blonde. After it was all over my hair which was a honey/blonde highlight color that I loved, was dark orangey bronze, wasn't exactly what I wanted, but I figured I'd deal with it until time to color it again. The next day, I had sores and blisters all over my scalp and my hair was breaking and falling out. I was able to contact the instructor (the same one who instructed the student to use the shampoo cap) about the issue and she tried to convince me it may have been because my hormones were off that day or because if I had Covid at some point, it may cause burns on my scalp and my hair to not take color properly. Basically said it was my fault. Saw a dermatologist and I had chemical burns. Hair continued to fall out. I've spent hundreds of dollars trying to get products to try to repair the damage to my hair and keep it from falling out any more. It's so damaged I can't blow dry or fix it in any way. This was handled in an unprofessional manner and I wanted people to be aware of what happened to me so hopefully it doesn't happen to...
Read moreI recently had a frustrating experience with the financial aid office at CCCC. I called at 9:44 AM to ask a question, only to be put on hold for almost 10 minutes without receiving an answer. In an effort to get help, I reached out to Samantha Z, an education navigator who has been incredibly helpful throughout my college journey. She kindly put me in the queue at 9:52 AM. Unfortunately, I didn't receive an answer until 12:07 PM. The person who answered wasn't in the financial aid department, so they couldn't directly assist with my question. However, they assured me they had forwarded my inquiry to the financial aid department. Despite this, no one ever followed up with me.
While I was extremely disappointed with the lack of support and communication, I am grateful for the care and dedication shown by both Samantha Z and the person who assisted me in the chat. It's clear that some employees at CCCC genuinely care about their students' success, but unfortunately, my experience with the financial aid department was...
