Acoustics are almost scary. You can hear a normal conversation for half a mile in some directions even though the wind is a constant presence. Arid; inhospitable, sandy, rocky desert. So dry it makes you thirsty. Dogs love it

Nice to see some acknowledgment to this part of WW II Santa Fe history. It would be nicer if there were more pictures of the camp from the archives at the site on info boards.

My grandmother and my mother told me that they would take food and clothing to those Americans interred there because they have understood just how immoral and cruel the government could be to those who were other than white. New Mexico natives be they be Pueblo or other Tribal people's, or Hispanics who were themselves guilty of the same evil when they arrived. All people of color have been and continue to be oppressed and suspect. Yet all of We The People have yet to understand and act on the fact that ALL of us are Brothers and Sisters on this planet. We are here to help and serve one another. Which is precisely what my mother and...

Directions are incorrect, telling you to go up La Loma Vista which is blocked by a gate. Even if you walk up on foot, you have to scramble up an embankment and duck under a cable fence. A better approach is to park in the dog park. There is a small trail on the left side of the park (along the fence) that goes directly to the marker. Alternately, once in the Parking lot, drive up the gravel drive and park on top; the marker (a large white rock) is just a few yards up the hill. Not very exciting, just a plaque, but something we need to know about and remember. Surprised at the large number of men that were...

This dog park is probably the best idea today for a person with a canine companion in Santa Fe. It stands in stark contrast to the time it was a prison camp for Americans who as a group fell out of favor due to external circumstances. A living lesson for what can go wrong in a democracy. And, an appropriate place to remember our mistakes in the company...
