I hate to leave a bad review, but it completely reflects my experience with getting a diagnostic done at Mikes PC and MAC Repair.
I have a laptop that turned off while I was using it and won't turn back on. The AC adapter has a green light on when it's plugged into an outlet (but NOT into the laptop). The second you plug the AC adapter into the laptop, the green light will turn off. This is a safety feature by Dell so that in case there is a short somewhere inside the laptop, the AC adapter won't just start frying things. I found this out by doing my own research (Google) and troubleshooting when the issue first occurred.
Apparently, this is a common issue with Dell laptops, at least according to the different forums dedicated to these issues online.
When I brought the laptop to Mike and explained the situation (over the phone) everything seemed like it would go smoothly. I wasn't asking for any repairs, I just needed to know exactly what was wrong with it and if it would be worth it to repair or not.
There was a bit of confusion with dropping off the laptop and then when it would actually be looked at. Sure, I get it. It's a side business out of your actual house. Whatever. Not a big deal.
The big deal, however, was when I talked to Mike about what he had done for his diagnostic. Basically, he had come to the conclusion that the AC adapter was bad because the light would turn off when you plugged it into the laptop. I had figured out from my simple Google search that this was most likely NOT the issue. I was then charged for that diagnostic (with a discount because I complained).
Honestly, I expect a little more from a diagnostic. Especially when I knew there was more of an issue than that. I also didn't expect to be charged for that simple of a process. He told me that the AC adapter was bad and that I needed to replace it and I should just order one. I told him that I would much rather test the AC adapter to see if that was actually the case before just going off and ordering one.
Long story short, I paid him his money and immediately took the laptop to PC Laptops. They did a basic consultation for free and told me it's most likely not the AC adapter and that this was a common thing for Dell laptops. I then decided to continue with their diagnosis and a few days later they called and told me the motherboard was completely dead and gave me the recommendations I had been seeking the entire time. There was nothing wrong with anything else, including the AC adapter.
Mike seems like a nice guy, but this was some terrible service with an incorrect diagnosis. If you think it's as simple as an AC adapter you should have the tools available to actually check it if you're going to advertise as a professional...
Read moreI had a problem with my computer for almost a year and tried several times to fix it by myself to save money. Unfortunately, I just wasted so much time (and energy) trying to fix it. I did a google search and read as many reviews possible to find the right computer technician in my area to take it to.
Luckily, Mike’s very positive online reviews always came out so, I decided to give him a call and see if he could fix my computer.
He was very professional, polite, knowledgeable, punctual, reliable and reasonable. Also, as someone who has no idea about computers, it was reassuring to have someone that will answer all my questions no matter how silly they are and give really good advice going forward.
Thank you so much Mike for your help! I’ve been using my computer for over a month now and there’re no problems at all! It works great without any issues!
1st time user and very happy with the whole experience! I will highly recommend his exceptional knowledge of technology to family and friends...
Read moreI owe Mike an apology. This is a very long overdue review. I want to give a massive shout out, and thank you to Mike at Mikes PC and Mac repair. Around Christmas of 2020 we had a specialty computer system that we use daily in the office go down. Due to the nature of the computer system, not being typical, I thought the system would have to be replaced which would have cost $30,000.00 for a new one, but Mike quickly got us in, properly diagnosed the problem, and was able to fix it perfectly. He was extremely professional, pleasant to work with, and very skilled at what he does. He went the extra mile for us. I have never had an experience with any IT company and/or computer repair that could match the overall experience I had at Mikes PC. Highly recommend without any reservation for any computer or IT repair needs and/or questions. Would absolutely use again, and would recommend to everyone. Thank...
