4/4/2023 Unfortunately, I have to change this to a 1 star review as I am living a nightmare with the team at Ellis. My lease ended due to a job-related, out-of-state move. The property manager Rich, plus the 2 office girls (Crystal and I forget the other girl's name), confirmed to me that as I had informed them 2 days before my 1 year was up, I would not be charged the 2 months 'penalty'. I would just be switched to month-to-month for my last month and that would be that. I thanked them for being fair, and the manager's exact words to me were, "it's the right thing to do". Well, my fault entirely for taking him (them) at their word, I did not get anything in writing. Even on the last day as I was leaving, dropping off my keys and driving away, the ladies in the office confirmed and assured me that I did not owe anything except the minor cleaning expenses, if any, after final walk. Imagine my shock when the 'minor expenses' turned in to a full month's rent! I called the office when I received the bill and was informed by Crystal to ignore it as 'corporate office' would take care of it and it was a mistake. It's been radio silence since then. Calls and emails go unanswered. As of last week, they have sent me to collections. It is my mistake that I, repeatedly, took them at their word. If anyone from the corporate office is reading this, please reach out to me to resolve this. I was a tenant in 1209 from 10/28/21 to 11/14/22. I have made numerous attempts to reach Rich, but he's either unavailable or doesn't return my calls. You should have my contact information on file. Thank you.
Original review: I rented this place sight unseen. While the apartment complex itself is nice, it's not the best location. It's not a bad or unsafe location, there's just nothing there. It's about 10 minutes from my work which is why it was ideal. The people who live here, for the most part, are either young professionals or SCAD students. One of my biggest gripes is the lack of covered / designated parking. I come back late from work so I have to park on the far side as all good spots are taken. Another is their trash collection process. 'Trash Valet' service might sound fancy for some but the idea is that you leave your trash in bags outside your front door and it'll be collected before 7pm. So, basically, any time you come and go you see trash bags or trash bins lining the hallways. This might not bother some but it's not what I want to see all the time, every single day! Other than that, it's a nice place. I really like the open floor plan, huge closets and double vanity. Andrew, who works in the office is great and always there to help. Thoroughly professional and unfailingly polite. Keith in maintenance is also really great and friendly. Unfortunately I can’t say the same for the Caucasian lady who works in the office. Her unprovoked rudeness and uppity attitude is one of the main reasons this isn’t a five...
Read moreI can’t say enough about my experience so far at the Ellis. Everyone has been so helpful and accommodating. Veronica, Kate, and Collyn have really gone above and beyond in every way make me feel at home. This is my 9th move in the last 9 years and this experience has been the best by far. And that is saying something.
The location is fantastic. 2 miles away from downtown and a short drive out to the islands. What more could you ask for?
Did I mention this place is brand spankin new? I moved into the third building that opened and the complex has been filling up quickly ever since. The people are all very nice and I have made many quick friends having moved here not knowing anyone in Savannah.
As expected with any new place, I had a few minor adjustments to my apartment but they were taken care of ASAP. Very quick responses and they even went the extra mile to make it right.
The Ellis is very accommodating to pets, so this might escalate my decision to get a dog sooner than later.
The staff does a great job of trying to engage the community with events such as pizza parties (with the pups of course), yoga, and fun by the pool.
Workout area has everything you need and more. Unless you are trying to become an Olympic weight lifter, you have it all.
I’m sure I could go on and on, but I love my apartment and where I live. If you are looking for an apartment in the savannah area, I would highly recommend checking it out. Just tell them Ben sent you and they will probably give you a great deal.
5 stars...
Read moreWe live in a two bedroom apartment, both of us are SCAD kids. This apartment complex is amazing. By far my favourite place I’ve ever lived! The pool and gym are both fantastic! There are so many fun places to hang out or work on homework around the place. The apartments themselves are dreams!! Most of the bad complaints I’ve seen are about management and staff, but they are so sweet and amazing. Nothing but love for them! There are some complaints about roaches, but if you’re gonna live in an apartment complex in the south, you’re going to roaches. Welcome to the south. And honestly as long as you keep your apartment clean, there’s not too many of them. The kitchens are fantastic, I love the baths!! We get so much light in our apartment. Parking is great! The balconies are fabulous! We love watching the sunset from ours while working on homework. We get food trucks every Wednesday and it’s amazing (there aren’t that many vegetarian options, but that’s pretty standard when it comes to food anywhere). The apartments are super pet friendly and I’m pretty sure almost every resident has one. The location is great too! Close to the islands, close to downtown. You will need a car to get anywhere, but that’s not a problem for us. My only complaint would be that I have the 2nd bedroom and there aren’t any locks on my room or bathroom. Not a huge problem for me as I rarely lock either, but I’m sure they would change the handles if I asked! Honestly I would hands down suggest living...
