If you are an existing customer of Yuppie Puppy or considering becoming one, I highly encourage you to continue reading. I have been a loyal customer for over 7 years; NOT ANYMORE. The owner decided to expand her business to a second location in Roselle, IL in the past year. She insisted that my dog be groomed at the new location because she would not be spending much time at the Schaumburg location. Reluctantly, I agreed since she was my preferred groomer despite the inconvenience of the new location. The Roselle location is much larger as it provides more services: grooming, daycare, and boarding. The below summarizes what you need to know if you are considering using Yuppie Puppyâs services: ⢠Since expanding to Roselle service has deteriorated significantly: grooming and customer service. ⢠No one answers the phone, ever. ⢠It takes several left messages to have someone return your call. ⢠All appointments need to be booked online. They reluctantly schedule an appointment for you when you ask them when you pick your pet up from their appointment if you tell them you donât want to do it online. ⢠They will buzz cut your pet even when it is not necessary. o I have a dog and reviews that I have read state this is true for cats too. o For 6+ years my dog, a shih tzu, would walk out of Yuppie Puppy looking cute and handsome in his teddy bear or puppy cut regardless of the season (shorter cut for Summer; longer cut for Winter). o They will tell you that they told you that your pet needed to be buzz cut and that you gave permission. Likely, because when you drop off your pet, they tell you that if there are any knots that your pet will need to be buzz cut. If you challenge them, they ignore you. ⢠Their grooming is sub-par. Expect your pet to look choppy. You will not see that cute teddy bear cut ever again once you are a repeat customer. ⢠They injure your pet and then DENY IT when you bring it to their attention. o This holds true if you are speaking directly to the owner. o I personally have experienced my dog being injured three times: ď§ Badly scraped and was told it was razor burn for a close cut on his belly for the Summer. ď§ A cut along his collar neckline. ď§ A puncture wound at his collar neckline. ⢠There is a groomer at the Schaumburg location that consistently yells at the dogs. I personally heard it while at a neighboring business in October 2022. ⢠Expect to be lied to multiple times. Your preferred groomer is not who is grooming your pet and you will know it.
I had a very civil conversation with the owner explaining why I was no longer bringing my dog to her establishment. Though she said she was sorry she did not seem sincere nor motivated to make changes. That was in...
Read moreDO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! I am a frequent traveler and on occasion sometimes internationally. This time it was Africa for a few months. When I do travel out of the country i usually leave my dog with my son giving the fact that he was unavaible i left her with a close friend. Unfortunately she never brushed her and well she got matted as long haired dogs do. Today I took my miniature schnauzer to this place around 945am for a 10am appointment. Note: I have taken her here 3 times before and everything has gone extremely well. Well today not so much instead I receive a phone call TWO HOURS later explaining that they can't groom my dog 0_0...explanation: she hasn't been here in so long and it's too much to do=abuse. If you've been here and know the area of the Northern suburbs you can imagine it's pretty "yuppie."---soooo giving that fact i'm pretty sure any animal abuser living in a VERY expensive area with a mortgage that def probably cost 5 times more than that mini mart they're passing off as a grooming spot wouldn't be bringing their abuser to get clean and presentable for another cycle of abuse:/ I stayed calm although i have work in an hour and drove to pick up my dog. What really bothered me was: the fact that the woman who took my dog has two eyes and appeared to have all her senses so why couldn't she determine right then and there that any grooming on her behalf would be impossibe? She waited 2 HOURS to call me yelling frantic to come pick up my dog and all this other craziness. WE'VE BEEN HERE 3 TIMES BEFORE!!!!!! She's been matted, but you've always been able to groom her. SHE ONLY DID half of the dog and i guess just gave up. She nearly threw my small dog in my arms and started yelling at me saying, "This is abuse!" Get out!" "I am a christian woman!"*as shes crying. ..then finally "I'm calling the police!" UM..................cause obviously i'm the one acting irrational right now.
I handed her money but she shooed it away and kept saying shes christian and going to call the police. She was the only person working and i guess she fell under some sort of pressure without her staff, BUT that does not give you or anybody the right to be blatanly RUDE, NOT PROFESSIONAL, and DISRESPECTFUL. I will continue to write bad reviews for this place, because the experience i had today was completely over exaggerated, unneccesary, and needs...
Read moreI own The Yuppie Puppie Grooming Salon in Schaumburg. I love my work and the pets that I see. Below, by "Didi" is a very unfair review of my business. Didi had been here only once before, March 17. 2012, and her little schnauzer was very matted. She has not been here, as she claims "three times" before; yesterday, January 10, 2013, was her second time. When she called for the appointment, she told me that the dog had been groomed since last March. When she arrived, and after she left, to my dismay, I discovered this dog probably had not been groomed in a very, very long time. I spent two hours trying to shave the severely matted hair. It was so thick on its belly and private parts. I have a photo of the hair that I did remove.
As most responsible pet owners know, there are dogs that are easier to maintain but a schnauzer is a high maintenance grooming animal. This poor little creature had already been on my table for almost two hours and I just could not continue putting it through the stress by continuing.
I did not charge this lady. I told her to take the dog to a vet to have it done so that it could be comfortable and sedated.
She has taken the time to go to Yelp and Google and who knows else to punish me for not being able to perform a miracle and "just do my job" by shaving her dog, regardless of how long and how bad its coat was in.
I will continue to love my job and the pets and feel sorry for her -- she said she was in a hurry to get to work and obviously found enough time to write false statements about the incident.
When I am upset with a service, I go to the source to correct it. I do not post reviews that are blown out of proportion and false.
I have requested Yelp to remove me from their site and I'm going to ask the...
