I’ll admit, I’m a boudin ball snob and have tried several in the area and always return to my usual spot which is very popular in the area. We had that yesterday on our way to New Orleans. Heading home my boyfriend said what if we do something crazy and try some competition that we haven’t tried before and I found this place. What drew me in was the cream cheese jalapeño boudin balls, the fried ribs and the ribeye stuff with cream cheese and jalapeños and wrapped with bacon. They were out of the ribeye but that’s okay. We got a sampling from the hot menu. Boudin balls, cc jalapeño boudin balls, meat pies, maple boudin rolls, chicken Cracklin, loaded potato bites and the fried ribs. Everything was very tasty. The chicken cracklin and ribs bites were the star of the show. The ribs look dry and tossed in seasoning but when you bite into them they’re anything but dry and the flavor of the fried fat and seasoning explode in your mouth. The boudin is really really good as well. I can’t say better or worse than my usual spot they’re different, but if I had to make the choice to stop and get just one, I’ll come back here to pair it up with those fried ribs and chicken cracklin every time. The store was also very clean, the employees super friendly and I didn’t have to wait in line for 30-45 minutes to get it.

If you’re driving through Louisiana, a stop at Kartchner’s Specialty Meats is a must for anyone who appreciates authentic Cajun flavors and a slice of local tradition. Nestled in the heart of Cajun country, this family-owned treasure greets visitors with the rich aroma of smoked meats and freshly fried cracklins. Inside, the shop is a haven for food lovers, stocked with shelves of hot sauces, spices, and regional staples that capture the essence of Louisiana cuisine. It’s the kind of place where time seems to slow down, and you feel a connection to generations of culinary craftsmanship. The real star, however, is their cracklins. Perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned with just the right blend of Cajun spices, they’re a snack that transcends expectations. Each bite bursts with flavor, and it’s clear that care and tradition go into every batch. Beyond cracklins, Kartchner’s also offers incredible boudin, sausages, and jerky, making it impossible to leave empty-handed. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this spot is a delicious detour that showcases the heart and soul of Cajun cooking.

I'm glad I stopped today to get me some cracklin. I was hesitant at first because I've never tried other chicharrones(cracklin) that's not from a hispanic meat market. Lilly was very kind and gave me a sample of the salted one and the seasoned one as well, and omg 😱.... The chicharrones were perfectly cooked, they were hot crispy and both were delicious . The seasoned one was my favorite. I'm not gonna lie it had a little spice, but just a little... I will be back for sure. Next time, I will grab some more.... I cooked the cracklin on my green salsa with catcus and potatoes.

I submitted an online order and tried reaching out to someone for over night shipping since it was boudin. I called, emailed and left several messages. I finally was able to speak to a female who assured me someone would call me on Monday before my order went out. I still didn’t hear from anyone so I called Monday morning hoping to catch someone before my order shipped. The shipping associate called me about an hour later saying he had shipped my package early Monday morning. I received my package Wednesday night. The boudin was room temperature and I’m sure it was spoiled by then. I don’t understand this type of customer service because i tried several times to reach out for over night deliver. They don’t care because they got paid for the product and me, the consumer lost. By the way, I live...
