I work in the area of this store, and probably visit at least 3 times per week. Tonight was the worst experience I have ever had at any Aj's. I grabbed some pasta salad, and used the salad bar, and was looking for something hot to go with my other items. I grabbed a small slice of chicken enchilada from the to go case. I then headed to the deli counter where I have always checked out. I waited for about 10 minute's for someone to come ring me up. Finally, a woman appeared from the back and asked if she could help me. I replied, I would just like to pay for these items. She replied "no one knows how to work this register go over there" pointing to the 1 open register at the front. So I grab my things and go get in line. I waited a very short time and was greeted by the only cashier working. I told her I had been waiting at the other counter for a while, and was probably a little frustrated at this point, as I was needing to get back to work. She rings up all of my items, then gets to the chicken enchiladas, which would not scan, and the price tag was unreadable. She then says this must be $5.08. I disagreed as this was literally a tiny piece of chicken enchilada, and had already seen a cheaper piece in the case. So she goes over to the deli counter to talk to the man working. A couple minutes later she returns and says "yep it's $5.08." At this point I was just done arguing over it, and didn't even want it anymore, and told her to keep it and I would just get the other items. Then as I walk away she say's to the man behind me, "well now we have a nice long line." First of all, Aj's Fine Foods promotes itself as a "high end" grocery store, and in my personal experience that also means "high end" customer service. Tonight's experience was worse than a fast food drive through. I can go to my local Fry's and get better quality service than what you are currently offering. That being said, I will sadly be going elsewhere, even though I love this store, until you can provide the type of experience a customer should receive at Aj's "Purveyors of...
Read moreI swear I feel like a Michelin reviewed chef just by walking in the door of any AJ’s. My culinary prowess increases exponentially at the expense of my neg balanced wallet. When I visit PHX, I go to AJ’s for a yummy experience. So after perusing the aisles, learning about all kinds of yummy new to me treats, condiments, oils, etc. I went to the dessert case & decided to try the pistachio cheesecake. I would say that this is my new favorite of AJ’s desert case but that would not be consistent with all my other trips to AJ’s. Every time I visit something new tempts me, I swear that item is my new favorite and so it goes. Think to yourself, when was the last time your neighborhood store ever tempts you with something new?? Nope, same ol’ stuff, higher price every week. So AJ’s is a treat for myself that I like to repeat. Then remembered that I originally came in for a gift card for my hosts. AJ’s is also good for a “host thank you” so you are invited back to their home and can go...
Read moreThis is NOT the first time we buy expensive wine from here and it’s being corked! Unfortunately we had a very unpleasant experience there today too while we’re supposed to be enjoying our holiday weekend. Let’s start with wine, 2 bottles for over $200 both corked, went in the first time and got exchanged. Next one is corked again, the manager John says he Can’t Do anything! What kind of customer service is it??? It’s a weak excuse for their weak customer service. The salad we bought today was also spoiled! The steaks we bought there before, stunk and definitely were bad. The quality is very poor the same is their customer service! Nobody did NOTHING! I...
