UPDATE Jan. 2, 2024: I'd been away from my regular workouts at the gym for family reasons. I returned this evening to find that my favorite feature (mentioned below in my original review), the Women's Only Gym, had been removed. The facility is now one large, open gym. They have added more free weights and new machines. While the updates make the gym more appealing aesthetically, my reason for creating a membership is now gone. Because of this, I'm downgrading my review from 5 stars to 4, and I will no longer workout here. Considering the upgrades and the pleasant staff, I believe that the reader would likely find this to be a nice neighborhood facility in which to workout.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I have been a member here for almost a year. When I first joined, I enrolled in personal training sessions. My trainer was personable and coached me well. She had a flexible schedule and contacted me weekly to make sure we could meet. On my own, I typically workout twice a week. Every time I've come for workouts or training, the trainers/associates at the check-in have been pleasant, and the facility has always been clean. I've changed clothes in the bathroom a few times, and it was clean, also. My favorite feature is the Women's Only gym; it has plenty of equipment to get a full body workout and cardio. I like being separate from the men. Overall, I'd recommend Pure Fitness to anyone...
Read moreI love Powerhouse gym. It's great wether you like to workout with free weights or machines.
They have a great variety of equipment, and a great deal of space. They got you covered if you just want to do cardio too. Their equipment seems well maintained, if not new.
They offer group classes, and personal training too. Their personal trainers are friendly and knowledgeable.
If you are a woman and don't feel comfortable working out with the rest of us, they have an area exclusively for you. I think it has most of the equipment the general area has, but boys are not allowed.
You can get a membership for Seaford, or you can pay a little bit more and include Salisbury, MD, and Ocean City, MD too.
Throughout the years I have tried some other gyms in Delmarva (which I won't mention out of respect) but I keep coming back to Powerhouse because you cannot beat them.
Hope to see you there (I need a spotter, so don't mind if you offer...
Read moreI was considering joining, but its a GYM! G-Y-M! But from the reviews it sounds like a clip-joint. Someone said, "lets be lazy" and not work monthly applications, when the chumps join, make the sign a one year! FOR A GYM!! If you are working out, or recovering and you need MORE than 6 months you are not doing it right!!! Ask your DOCTOR for a Physical Therapy Prescription, Even with a co-pay, you do not have to join for a year, remember to cancel, and everyone says hello. Joining a gym for YEARS?! You are the people who drive to go walk!
UPDATE after response below. What is your short term contract? i was told, read, and reviewed all "one year". Am i incorrect. i Iike being wrong because unlike most, i learn from it. So, please, correct me. I am sure other are more than interested, and if i can "debunk" the 1 stars here and now, then you may have more...
