Presently, my daughter’s laptop is working on its third year of life. It was bogged down with all sorts of problems to the point that she couldn’t access her desktop anymore (black screen), it was super slow, and she had to constantly restart it. Starting the brink of college, she was disheartened and declared that she wanted a new computer.
Not wanting to buy another and hoping that it could be repaired somehow, I searched online for local computer repair guys and narrowed them to a few with the best ratings. I carefully read each one and thoughtfully weighed them.
I’ve heard how some businesses buy fake reviews to boost their numbers—how can we trust anything we read anymore? As a published author, I’ve seen and heard a lot out there but I know that, in order to move forward, I must take a chance.
Despite my suspicious tendencies, I chose Dan Rubio—the closest person by location—with his glowing reviews. The common theme is how personable, caring, and competent he is. I felt comfortable the more I read about him and decided to contact him. He responded very quickly.
We took my daughter’s laptop to his home where he asked her questions about the goings-on and discussed with us the computer’s problems as well as possible causes, and how to fix the minor ones. (He also volunteered his brain for us to pick via email for any questions we might have, including nonrelated ones—even one for my son who is aspiring in IT. Wow! What magician shares his trade secrets, right?). My daughter and I listened to his thoughts regarding her laptop with bated breaths. Would he be able to bring her laptop back to life?
We were desperate as my daughter had two weeks before school would start and all this happened within the space of three days—he was gracious enough to squeeze us in before his big trip to Europe!
Here we are, two months later and from day one after Dan was done, my daughter hasn’t had a single problem with her computer. Dan also provided us with information on how to maintain it as well.
My laptop has been slow and has been giving me minor problems for quite a while. Guess who’ll I’m going to for its checkup?
